I asked the guy having a garage sale this question after seeing the Harley cans proudly displayed front and center.

He returned from the basement with a box of PBR O/I’s!
He said his Dad grabbed them from the nickel store next door, there was a full case on display for years- only nine remained. He was shocked, thought he might cry even, when I gave him what I thought was a fair offer. Ziphippie

That MASH can would have been more expensive than all nine of the Pabsts! We know how mega-rare those MASH cans are!

Seriously, that was a great score, and proof yet again of why you always ask if there's anything else around when you see beer collectibles at a garage sale. It hasn't worked to that level, but I have made some decent scores over the years by asking. Worst they can say is no.

Why didn't he put those out in the garage sale? Did he not want to sell them until you startled him with an offer? Or did he think they weren't worth anything?

He knew they were old, just didn’t know value.
He had a relative tell him $5/each.
He didn’t want to get burned.
We talked, we got along- he liked the fact that I collected.
I made an offer that I’m sure he is still talking about. Ziphippie

At a tag sale about a half mile up the street from my house I asked the same question and was rewarded with two super clean Wehle Mule Head Ale OI's.
When the guy disapeared into the basement I thought for sure he would return with a couple Harley / Billy / JR type cans. You never know. I did get down to the basement and checked some crawl spaces - nothing beyond the two.....

Guy answered my old CL ad earlier this week, he was about an hour away but the karma truck delivered these to my front door! He had some decent dumpers, a Royal Pilsner with all the yellow no fade. I’ll post clean up pics- he grew up in the UP. Some great stories. Ziphippie

Yard sale yesterday. Got any signs? Guy says sold 4 vintage Coke signs for $180! I said you know they go for much more said he just needs to get rid of a lot of stuff. What about beer cans. He says I have a bunch at my house down the road and signs. Got his number and will see next week what he really has. Can’t wait
