New - Raineer Jubilee Wind Tunnel Vanity lids
What's your opinion of these?
I'm not normally one for re-lided cans. And I'm definitely not for anything fake in the collectable world. However, these are clearly aftermarket and are kind of an nice tribute to the find. I like them.

I agree with what you said word for word. I avoid cans with replaced lids but if I made an exception, this would be acceptable.
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

John Kretschmer came up with that lid design. I think it looks terrific and is a great tribute to this incredible find from the Boeing wind tunnel. Way to go John!

Re: New - Raineer Jubilee Wind Tunnel Vanity lids
I appreciate the kind words on the Rainier Jubilee lids....Originally I was only going to place these lids on my collection Jube cans due to the scarcity of available vintage correct lids. I do however have a limited supply of the 2016 "R" Vanity type lids and have been lidding the Rainier Jubilee cans for my collection as well as a few duplicates that have I listed on eBay.
I have had requests for just the lids but have not sold any yet.
Thanks to Carl S and the other collectors that helped us be a part of the Boeing Wind Tunnel find!

So what do you charge to lid one of these cans? I have a handful of wind tunnel cans that fit my rather unique collecting interest and would love to have them lidded like this. They look kinda ugly now with the open, sharp edges on both ends.

Re: New - Raineer Jubilee Wind Tunnel Vanity lids
Upsidedown,
I am not entirely comfortable charging collectors yet for the process of lidding since it is fairly new to me. I certainly don't have the experience like Andrew or Art or The Can Dr.
However, if you would like to be the guinea pig and send one of your lidless examples to me, I will give it a go at no charge.
If you like how your Rainier Jubilee turns out, then we can talk about prices for the 2016 "R" lids and the lidding of Jubilee cans for future examples.
If you are interested send me a PM and when can exchange addresses.
Thanks,
John

This topic came up in a recent post in the Advertise Forum. In the General Discussion forum, I questioned what folks thought about the Wind Tunnel cans. Here's a response that made sense to me.
I even included it in my Vanity Lids tread.

I agree with that assessment. For me, just having individual examples of that find is good enough. It was a unique event in the Hobby and I see nothing wrong with adding a commemorative lid such as shown in this post. I wish I could replace the lids on my Wind Tunnel cans with it and maybe have it offered on any future Wind Tunnel cans that I may have a chance to acquire.Carl S » June 24th, 2020
I have been very involved with all phases with the wind tunnel cans. I added or upgraded over 225 Jubilees in my collection from this incredible find.
To me the wind tunnel cans are a completely different class of can from ones which held beer.
I even included it in my Vanity Lids tread.

Re: New - Raineer Jubilee Wind Tunnel Vanity lids
Are there any more of these lids available or maybe the original artwork so more can be made?
