It is possible that the seller came across a stack of NOS cartons, but only took one set of photographs from the first one and is reusing the same image.

I am not sure if the cartons are real or fake, but I'm guessing the equipment required to print the sheet, then properly die cut and crease into a functioning carton would be substantial. Maybe some guys at a OEM paper facility could do this after hours? Could they have found a 60's stamping die for straight steel cans in a storage room somewhere?

According to the BCCA's United States beer cans book vol. 2 the 007 beer came out in 1968. There were 2 sets, the first set was numbered 594-600 and the second set was numbered 635-641 and also had a narrow white band around the label.
I am leaning toward Repo carton. I looked at my sets and none have NB 605 Plus the carton colors are too bright and are off. The CCC is missing. So 3 reasons right there. Plus Richard Keil JAWS and Lois Chiles Dr. Holly Goodhead are not BIG fans of fakes.

Plus there is another one listed on EBAY right now and there is a blemish on the girl's face for the one earlier sold and the same blemish on the face for the one for sale now. It looks to be mass-produced by the seller.

I am standing down.

I Have been taking a close look at these and the one I found on FB. Aside color difference I think they are legit. Says they came from an auction in Pheonix. Which is where one of the breweries was and the ccc loci etc should be under the flap.

In the early 90's I worked for a printing ink company. One day I was visiting a customer and they showed me a machine they used to make prototype boxes for customers who wanted to hold a real box in their hand before committing to a design. It was a VERY impressive machine and this was 25+ years ago. I can only imagine what a motivated employee could do after hours today.

I am still suspicious of these cartons but they could be real. I hope they are.
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

The hard part of faking these would not be in the printing and die cutting... i get prelim samples made often.. it would be in the reproduction of the artwork. That said, a 007 flat sheet could be scanned in.

Is there any part of the original photo composition on the box that is not on the can? That would be the most difficult (though not impossible) part to fake.

I sent seller a note asking if repro or if he picked up a stack of NOS. Told him a lot of potential buyers are suspicious and that he should clarify origin in eBay description. Let’s see if he responds or not!

I compared the ebay carton picture in this thread with the authentic one also in this thread. The color on the authentic one matches the can better. Looking at the corresponding can in hand, the location of the tower containing Big Ben is to the left of the Bond Girl. It is to the right in both cartons. Since the pictures of the Bond Girls were placed over the London Background for all of the 007 cans, it appears that for the carton, they positioned the Bond Girl in a different location in the corresponding London background. Beside the color shift from one carton to the other, the carton graphics match.

I noticed that if you look at the panel with the Tower Bridge, the four objects to the right of the Bond Girl in the ebay item look like they had been edited out in the known real one.

Excellent catch. I only compared one side of each carton.

Please see the attached picture. I bought the carton from eBay to see if we could determine if it is fake or real. The Continental Can information is there- it is hidden in the eBay picture as it is tucked under the other bottom flap. Note that the numbers all along the edge of the authentic carton are not visible on the eBay version.

Summary of Difference noted thus far between the authentic carton pictured in this thread and the one just sold on ebay:
1. ebay carton has different color for the London pictures on each side. ebay version has same background color for both London pictures. The authentic carton's picture match the corresponding can.
2. ebay carton has extra spires/towers evident on the bridge scene side of the carton.
3. ebay carton does not have numbers along the bottom flap (same flap as CCC information)

Please feel to add anything else that notice.

Wow. Thanks for analyzing. I almost pulled the trigger on one but became gun shy when the seller wouldn’t answer me on how many he purchased in the auction.

I messaged him four days ago and asked:

A couple of questions: How many of the 007 containers do you have? Are they original to the 1960's or more modern reproductions?

He responded a day later with:

As far as I know they are I found them at an estate.

If you read his response, he is essentially hedging on the question. Responds, but doesn't really answer it (Politician?). Totally ignores the quantity question.

I followed up again with the fact that he's sold two on ebay and has another listed. How many total came from "the estate"? No response.

Hey Bob -
I asked exact same question and got the exact same response: he’s obviously got a lot of them, fake or real, and isn’t going to tell anybody.
Thanks,

So sounds like a very nice Repo!
A good buy at $20 -$30 depending on how bad you want it! A ripe off at $190 or less.
And like I have read...How many does this guy have? To make a die cut for this carton 25-50-100+ still to sell?

Let's say it is a repo. Perhaps the guy works in the industry and has access to the equipment/software needed to do the artwork plus produce the packaging. If so then the answer to the question about how many there are is pretty simple. It's as many as he chooses to make which is a function of how long they continue to sell. After the initial setup work is done, producing them is simple and cheap.

So to take this line of thought further, once the 007 market peters out what's next? The obvious answer is to produce them for other iconic labels from that time period. Playmate, Soul and the Promise Kept cans are several that come to mind immediately.

Pure speculation on my part but maybe the "estate sale" yielded a stash of these brands and others as well. Time will tell.
