Been collecting since 75' with a break from 85 to 95.. Finally completed my 1960's Canadian aluminum collection. Some of these are pretty darn tough to acquire The Dow Kingsbeer just arrived in the mail today and it was the last piece.. Need a few upgrades but I am a happy camper right now.

Pretty cool Curt .. now seems odd only a few labels and wondering was it that Canada was strict or tight how they canned their products ? Or what companies they allowed to do the canning ? Always seem like Canada was pretty regulated how they did things with alcohol , like with the Brewers Retail stores to buy beer and such .. but congrats on finishing the work

These were only only the market for a few years and only sold in Quebec, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Apparently these cans sprang leaks and they switched back to steel by 67/68 I think. Canada only started canning beer in 48 or 49 and only in these 3 provinces . The rest including Ontario never sold canned beer until at least 64 and some provinces even later than that. Cans were never very popular until probably the eighties, now they are the main container and I think i saw on the Canadian collectors facebook page that there has already been well over 2000 new cans this year. There is probably only about 4-500 different Canadian cans pre 1981 or so and that would be counting canning company variations

Thanks for posting!!! I have some way to go... and would like to see what the differences in the three Mooseheads are, if you have the time and inclination.

Mark the can second from left does not have a gold band like the 3rd from left and right side can. The far right can with the gold band is a differnet Zip Top and I couldn't decide which to keep so I kept both.

On a side note.About 20 years ago I picked up about 5 or 6 cases (mostly all grade 2/3) of mixed with mostly Schooner New All Aluminum, You Can't Beat a Good Schooner , Olands New All Aluminum and 1867- Olands 100th Birthday-1967 as well as few Alpines and Mooseheads. There were 3 Ziptop variations and the Schooner "New All Aluminums" and Oland's New All aluminums had all 3 variations.

The Mooseheads are very tricky to sort out due to inconsistencies in colour etc. . I would presume the rightmost can(zip) is Lancaster instead of Dartmouth. Interesting one without the gold band on top . I have not noticed this. Have you seen others similar??

You are right Tom the Zip is Lancaster. i have had many of these Mooseheads over the years but I don't think I have had the another like it. There is a difference in the colour of the gold as well. The can with no gold band at the top and the Biere have a similar gold colour (metallic?) around the label while the 2 on the right are different . I would guess that maybe it is the order in which released. The far right is Lancaster oldest, then the transition to Dartmouth,Saint John next to it, then the last 2 with the metallic gold are Dartmouth Saint John before switching to back to steel? who knows. Or maybe it's a production thing?

That is the trickiest thing about taking pictures for the BCCA. Including small colour variations or enamel metallic variations with no other differences is always a difficult call. If you type in USBC supplement beer on google search you will be able the BCCA supplement site which contains the Canadian beer cans with 5 views. FYI the later red Moosehead tabs are also metallic and enamel gold. Tom

Wow, that is impressive, rarely do you see all of the 60's Alum together. There are too many hard to find labels to get them all.
