Olde Frothingsloth, Early Oddball Crimped Steel?
I picked up this Olde Frothingsloth today. I got all the colors, Brown & Original Brown, Orange, Blue, Red, Silver, Purple, Yellow & White, all from the late 60's to mid 70's. All these cans are Straight Steel. Then the cans to follow after these were all Crimped Steel. BUT, I got a White Crimped Steel. first time I ever seen one of these colored cans in Crimped Steel, I thought it was odd so I picked it up. SO, What I want to know is how difficult is this can to find? is it a tougher can or just another common $1.00 Olde Frothingsloth? it's gotta be tougher & worth more then the Straight Steel Version or NO? Let me know. Any Crimped steel specialist in here? Jon Aho maybe or Olde Frothingsloth Specialist? Ray Knisley maybe? LEON.

@YooperAho
@Leon
Jonny is probably one of the experts on crimped steel tabs. I would recommend to give him a call (I think you know his home phone #).

Re: Olde Frothingsloth, Early Oddball Crimped Steel?
Leon, I'll let Jonny make an "official" comment on the availability/value of the white/red/blue crimped steel from 1976. To me, they are common.
Before 1975, OF came in straight steel cans, with a wide seam. In 1975, the silver and maroon cans came in a narrow seam. Of note, the 1975 yellow can does not come in a narrow seam. In early 1976, the white/red/blue can came in a straight steel version. Later that year they moved to the crimped steel cans, using those going forward.
In fact, if your name was Ralph, I have a sweet deal on an autographed crimped one. Any takers?
I do collect Olde Frothingslosh cans with state tax stamps on either end.
Here is a picture showing 4 from:
Florida - 1969, 1976 straight steel, 1976 crimped steel, 1977
Georgia - 1974, 1974, 1974, 1977
West Virginia - 1974, 1975, 1975, 1976 crimped steel
Oklahoma - 1977, 1977, 1978, 1978
If you have any OF cans with a state tax stamp on an end, in your collection or in your traders, I would like to hear from you.
Leon, If you want to look for a seldom seen Olde Frothingslosh can, look for the white one with black printing.
Jonny, do you have one of those? Anyone else have one in their collection?

This is threadcrap, but I only in the past few years realized Fatima Yechburg was a takeoff on Anita Ekberg. Duh.

Re: Olde Frothingsloth, Early Oddball Crimped Steel?
With apologies to Leon for more threadcrap, but since Kevin @iggyks started it, did you know that Marsha Majors (Phillips) was not the first Miss Olde Froth? Her first appearance was in 1969, after graduating from Beaver Area High School in 1963. She did not have a picture, as a senior, in the yearbook. I know, I looked.
An earlier Miss Olde Froth appeared on the 6 pack bottle carrier in 1958.
I guess the "Pale Stale Ale for the Action Male", gave way to the "Pale Stale Ale with the Foam on the Bottom".

I had no idea Fatima was loosely based on somebody real. What is the connection with Anita?
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

Re: Olde Frothingsloth, Early Oddball Crimped Steel?
I Don't even know what the word threadcrap means? is that word even in the Webster's Dictionary? It's a free country, if somebody don't like a crappy thread, use the option to move on & not even open it to read it. I find Baxters 1958 six pak somewhat interesting even though I'm not a Olde Frothinsloth Specialist. THANKS, LEON.
P.S. Maybe Johnny can come Rescue this Thread?

Just the name was a spoof. Anita Ekberg was a 1960s (primarily) actress and sex symbol.

Re: Olde Frothingsloth, Early Oddball Crimped Steel?
I think iggyks was concerned his contribution might be off topic since it was not related to the type of seem on the can and he was concerned he might distract people away from the original intent of this thread.

Nonsense, just because it required several searches on Yahoo images to research and refresh my memory of Ms. Ekberg.pinnacle-project wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2019 11:47 amI think iggyks was concerned his contribution might be off topic since it was not related to the type of seem on the can and he was concerned he might distract people away from the original intent of this thread.
There's a joke in here somewhere about "crimped steel"...
