Brownie Beer through the ads

#1

Post by keithker »

Here are a few details on Brownie beer and the known advertising findings through newspapers.com. This was inspired by another topic thread. Thanks @Cap-Sealed Ed for making me go look..

Ok so it looks like the first Brownie beer advertising appeared in California newspapers on July 22, 1937. That was specifically for 11oz steinies which required a deposit....maybe on of the eventual downfalls of it... The can advertisements didn't appear until Dec 21-23 in four various newspapers across California. That was it. Cans of Brownie beer in cans was never seen again.

The last ad that included Brownie beer still in the 11oz steinie bottles and AGAIN still requiring a deposit was June 26, 1942. Did the return deposit kill the sales? Not sure but is just a thought....

Oh I threw in a few other Brownie's beer searches that happened to so up....
