Cleveland Sandusky beer bottle question

#1

Post by CrustyRusty »

I picked up two CSB bottles recently with the embossed initials CSB on them, they seam common and probably are, but wondering how many different labels were used on this style bottle?, I found this image showing a Schlather label on the same bottle style I picked up, but were there any others used?

Bottles of that form and vintage could have been used for any brand the brewery bottled at the time. All pre pro bottles were two way - intended for re-use over and over. Return rates were much higher than the last breweries using 2 ways experienced so a bottle might last for a decade or more acquiring considerable case wear over it's service time....

Thanks for the info....I noticed of the two bottles I have that they're not the same embossing, one is embossed CSB and the other is CSBC, guessing the added "C" is for "company", I'm not sure which is the earlier of the two.
