NW Guys - Variant? tougher 16oz Heidelberg

I don't typically keep American vs CCC variations - except when they changed the design of the sheet, not just their canning logo changed.

So this is interesting - both of these are the tab in the first photo

I had a fan tab from American, it is the actual can shown for 153-08 on the USBC Supplement Vol 2 web page

I got the CCC version with the early tear drop pull and noticed the width of the white band at the seam is much different such that there is a lot less yellow between the border and the front logo.

I always thought this was a pretty short run can so was surprised they made it long enough to buy sheets from both can companies

I think I sent it to Jim Wolf for his opinion on whether to give the variation a new number, thought I'd share

I wouldn't consider that white line at seam much of a difference but some would consider the tops & seams much more of a difference. LEON.

The only thing I see different is the word " Half Quart" to me I consider a Variant .That my option . It may or may not dealt with price value ?? I know those 16 oz Grain Belt variant with the word " Big 16 & 16 ounce" make the big different is price value. My .02 cents.

I think maybe you were comparing the flat top with the pull tab in first pic. not the 2nd or 3rd pic tabs. Some may not know it but when you put 3 pictures on here the first picture you put up will end up really being the last 3rd pic. LEON.

Ahh,!!! Point taken Leon. I see it now. To me, the only thing different is the way the seam made. To me I usually don't collect seam variant , but for other people they do. The can on the right may be older than the one on the left. But then again, possible different can company in the same year ?? So, I'm no expert on seam variant.

I think they are both the same age roughly 1965-66 approximately but the different can co account for the different tops & seams. LEON.

I collect variations of NW cans and wouldn't consider either that hard to find. I would consider them 2 different labels because of the differing can companies, seams, Utab vs. fan tab tops and the label differences you pointed out. I think can company differences often denote a label or color change of some type and I guess it is where you draw your own personal line. They both would grace my shelves as different.
