I ship a lot of larger items and shipping on those has definately gone up.

Best bet is to just pack it up, measue dimensions, and get a weight
(hold package on bathroom scale if you have to)

Then just go online to USPS, Fedex & UPS and use their shipping
estimators to get an idea which is best.

Even small businesses get much better rates than individuals. If you have a friend that can ship it on his/her employer's account, that will probably be a much better deal.
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

Here's an example:
30 offgrade 12 ounce dumpers in an oversize box (more than a cubic foot) weighing 6 pounds from Buffalo to New Mexico should cost $22.43 using USPS Retail Ground. Forget about priority, that costs $40.15

More cans in a bigger box and more weight will cost more money. UPS and Fedex will cost more. I didn't look it up but they nail you on shipping to a residential address.

Shipping prices are really getting steep on mailing rust long distance -Postmaster Billy.

I've heard that items purchased through eBay get a substantial discount on shipping rates.

True. Not only is the postage cheaper when I print the labels on ebay, I can put the box out on my front porch and the mail carrier will pick it up when he delivers my mail. I just need to make sure I put a request in before 2:00 AM.

It's not really an ebay discount, it is that some, not all, ebay sellers qualify for the USPS commercial shipping rates. The discount rates are only on priority mail and first class packages. This includes both domestic and international shipping. Nobody gets a discount on media mail or parcel post (retail ground). The discounts are usually 10 to 20 percent, sometimes higher depending on zones and weight.

Here are the latest rate tables:
