Auction Results
I noticed there was a lot of interest and discussion relative to the recent auctions at Breweriana.com and the Beer Cans Plus. I put their posted results into two Excel files that can be sorted to answer your questions such as what got the most bids, which item sold for the most pennies, what did that can that I need go for, what could I have gotten that was within my budget, etc.
If you can find them useful, download them and play with them. (If requested, I can also provide PDF's of both.)

Re: Auction Results
I second the Nice Work comment. Thank you.
What jumps out at me as I scroll down both lists is how many $1,000+ cans there are.
I watched a good portion of the Good Guys live bidding this past Sunday. Seemed to be very active with bids consistently coming in during the live segment of the auction.

Re: Auction Results
I too noticed the large $ amounts and was amazed I got sucked in to spending a couple K myself. I am curious, are all the cans from one collection or a collective of different collections?
Also, there were very few less than grade 1- cans...if any, so does that mean that is the standard for auctions? And if so, what happens to all the grade 2 or less cans from the collection?
I also noticed few duplicates; however, in mine and others I know people typically collect minor variations. I think I have half dozen different Natty Boh cans and same for Mountain Dew HillBilly as well. So do those cans get sidelined for future auctions?
Lastly, is the buyers premium what the auction gets or do they get a percentage of the overall sales also? Just curious how much per $100 the owner actually gets. Thanks

Re: Auction Results
The Good Guys next auction will have some grade two and even some tough dumpers, along with some clean cans. The next Auction is the third Sunday in September, we will try and have small auctions every third Sunday in each month. This next auction we will be donating 5% of the proceeds to the Rusty Bunch chapter for whatever they think is fit for the chapter.
Now the next issue. We sold the Donald Duck soda cone in out auction on Sunday 08/04/19 it is now on eBay, using our pictures. We just mailed the can out this morning, the owner has not even got the can, and it's on eBay. Plus, I don't think he will make any $$? I don't get it? The guy who is selling on eBay, is the correct buyer, maybe he is over extended? Who knows.

Re: Auction Results
I've wondered about consigned items in these auctions too. Dealers typically charge about 10% for a straight consignment sale, so I would imagine consigning to an auction is similar. I think these last couple auctions included a much higher percentage of items owned by the auctioneers than the previous auctions, though.
I'm really looking forward to seeing rare offgrade cans at auction. I might be able to afford a couple of those!

Weird; he's not even trying to make money on it. He's out over $100 if it sells at full price.Dan B wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 9:00 pm

Re: Auction Results
Just curious, is there a resource book for soda cans that is anything similar to what is available for beer cans?
If so, where does one find them?

Re: Auction Results
What really stumps me is that it doesn't seem to be a isolated incident. The same seller was also selling cans that I assume he won from Dan Morean's auction from the week before. I guess he purchased them so he can do whatever he wants. I could understand it more if the cans were purchased way below the value and you could double your money, but to pay full retail and sell at a loss once you take out ebay fees seems crazy.willssoda wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 9:58 pmReally is a tough cone and in that condition......but on the heals of the Auction sounds like somebody's better half went loco.
