Last weekend's "Gem of the Sierras" South Lake Tahoe Beer Can Show pix

Thanks again to the Rusty Bunch for co-sponcering the show again this year. We were graced by the presence of Andy Caldwell & Bob Lavelle (both who should be RB Hall of Famers) who came all the way from St Louis as well as Rusty Jonesin from Chicago, Bill Lindstrom from Texas, Scott Field from Portland, Oregon and Carl Scheurman from Seattle and Dale & myself from Albuquerque. We all went out for 5 days before the show for digging too. Next year, we plan on doing this again, so mark your calendars for mid-July! The show was awesome. Everyone had a great time and lots of great stuff was there to take home. Plenty of dumpers and some mint stuff, although we felt snubbed by our local California dealer. I was provided an allowance from the officers of the RB to purchase some door prizes and Dan Baker of Beer Can Plus gave us a super deal on a Maier cone and Frisco flat top. Be sure to visit www.beercansplus.com and their new auction site (their items are not rigged or shrilled.) It was a great time for all and hopefully some of you can make it out there next year.... Enjoy!

Hey Jim - I wont move the dates around this time. A Portland guy said the earlier date would fall on the the Portland Expo show and I should move it, which I did. And then HE didnt go! No Reno Bottle Show next year either since it will be there national later in August. I may move the motel to one that has fridges & microwaves. I'm planning on keeping it the same weekend but wont know for sure until I sign the contract. I'm also thinking of seeing who would like to go on a sport fishing trip that Friday morning in Lake Tahoe for Coho. That would fun too and then if lucky enough, we could have a fish fry! Dumping next year might be broken up in teams of two and we'll stick to California.

My show cans: KOL is by Grace Bros, 49er I dumped a bunch years ago and never kept one - I got this one from Carl. Dutch Lunches are upgradeds. The Happy Hops is my Can-of-the-Show I got from Dave Rusk- Chateaudebris, the Karls K is by Grace and the last one I needed (I have the blue and purple ones plus the ones we dig in New Mexico); I needed the blue Kings taste to go with my red one, the Deutche Brau is cool with a Maier lid, Pabst dancing goat is from Los Angeles, and the Hamms 11oz Draft is also from Los Angeles and dumped by Dave Rusk 30 years ago.

Silver Moon bottle is 1930s and by San Francisco Brewing Co - what a cool can that would have made!

IMG_7433.JPG
I wanted the Happy Hops can from Dave Rusk. He dumped it the same dump as the chalk statue. Said they have to stay together. Probably one-of-a-kind but if anyone else has one, I sure would like to get a photo so I can get this restored. Other I will have to go off can and bottle labels.

@Rand Do you think that Art or Leon could take the wrinkles out of that Olympia can?

Post-show deal I made with Herman. Had he made the show, I would have gotten it then...... It was old-time CA digger Les Whitman's can, found in California.
