RIP - Gary Lange

#1

Post by OhioCanGuy »

I was shocked to see the passing of Gary Lange announced in the latest BCCA magazine. He was only in his mid 50's. Anyone know what happened? Please pm me if you feel it would be more appropriate.

I didn't know Gary well, but over the last several years, our tables always seemed to be in close proximity to each other at the Cincinnati Sunday after Thanksgiving show and the Dayton Mini-Can. Over the years, he picked up a few cans from me and I found a few additions to my collection from him. This past year (2018) at the Cincy Thanksgiving show, I added a pristine Goebel flat with Life Magazine vanity lid, from his trade stock. At the end of the show, I remember Gary, wheeling out two cases of Little Kings 7 oz. bottles (being produced again). He and I reminisced about drinking those little bottles in our younger years.

He was an advanced collector of Southern Indiana and Kentucky breweries. Most notably Sterling and Oertel's. I always enjoyed talking with him and he seemed like a genuinely nice person.

Sorry to see him go, way too young.

Bob

There was a big thread on Facebook when he passed. Mark Rigney and Tom Peterson are selling Gary's collection for his wife. They started the disbursement of it at the Ohio Mini-Can.

Gary was a very generous individual. He personally sought me out when he bought a collection a few years ago, for the rust, and gave me quite a deal on it. Always upbeat and never had a bad thing to say about anybody or anything. His passing was sudden and for that reason made it a shock to those who knew him. Way to Young to go, but I reckon God needed a special man up there.

Gary was awesome! Yes, agree on WAY TO YOUNG! Never ever complained about anything. Always in a good mood! Never was negative on anything or anyone! Good man to emulate!

He will be in my BCCA Tribute at Albeerqurqe next month.

RIP Pal

Rawley
