Los Angeles Rheingold

Post by Kotto »

The California Rheingolds have never really been on my radar, and then this one just kinda fell into my lap. Anything to get excited about? Seems like the New York and New Jersey versions re pretty common.

If I remember right when I asked about mine I was told it was a common $5.00 can. LEON.

The two-sided one is actually fairly uncommon. One-sided ones are available.

Any of you Rheingold experts know which Rheingold label was filled in Portland, Oregon by G. Heileman when the New York plant went on strike and G. Heileman shipped all the cans out to Portland and filled them there? Does anyone even know when they were striking...I am sure I could figure out the label if I had a date the strike happened. Not to take you off topic but have been wondering this Rheingold question for a while.

Yeah, John, they're not much to write home about, but you got a nice clean one.

If they had California Girls on them, you'd have something! How cool would that be?!

Here is the info on a 1991 strike at Heileman's Baltimore brewery.

This is most likely where Rheingold would have been produced, close to the New York City market area.

It took me forever to get the IRTP version of this can. Maybe in NY they are common but I looked for many years before I was able to acquire one. A real sleeper/under rated can as it looks so much like the more common versions. My 2 cents anyway.
Always looking for West Virginia breweriana from Fesenmeier and Parkersburg.
12 oz. US flat tops.

Well I woke up this morning and got myself a beer,
