Have a Question for the Book People, if any are in here on Rusty Bunch. On Page 26 the book implies that out of the 2 different U-Tabs the U-tab with the tab to pull is a zip tab or zip top. Is this True? Pic below. THANKS, LEON.

Another Question or did I just answer my own Question. I noticed the White Frankenmuth Promised Kept can is listed in the Book as a zip top & as far as I know it only comes one way with one certain top, The U-tab with the Tab to pull in my above picture on left hand side. SO This must mean the book determined these to be a zip top. Any confirmation? THANKS, LEON.

This was mentioned in my Zip Tab Summary. Once opened and the tab is removed, there's no easy way to tell which it was, Zip Tab or Ring Tab. I sent the summary for their approval for the BCCA Magazine. Neither has gotten back to me since the 8th of May when I sent it. (Not a problem though, I've been waiting since before Christmas for @Robert F to get back to me after the Holidays which I think has already taken place.)

If you look at page 66 can 15 of the BCCA Tab Book you'll note they call the Frankenmuth Promise Kept can a Zip Top as noted by the Z in Description. This can only came with one top available & no other top as far as I know. Pic below. Courtesy of Bob L's Can. LEON.

Forgot to mention that on the Zip "Slots" the instructions say to "Lift Tab" and on the Ring "Slots" the instructions say "Lift Ring". The lids are identical except for those words (if visible) and the end piece that gets riveted in the center of the lid.

Promises Kept is a zip tab.

Yes that info is in my first pic of the 2 different tops. THANKS, LEON.

As not all cans still have the zip intact, we are using the definition of what a zip top is based on the text on the lid. If it says “LIFT TAB”, it is a zip. If it says lift ring it is a tab or ring top. Note that I like to use ring top to avoid confusion as I think of both zip and ring tops as tab tops. There may be exceptions (zip tops that do not say “LIFT TAB”), but I am not aware of those.

Thanx.
