December 1933 - Krueger "Canned Beer' for sale!

December 1933 - Krueger "Canned Beer' for sale! Herman Oswald found this ad. Would suppose this in 1933 would be the Krueger Special Beer can as it would have to be 3.2 percent after repeal. Ad shows that they actually sold the brand in select markets not just gave out a few test cans with surveys as was previously thought.

Your thoughts ???

@Cap-Sealed Ed sorry to be the party buster but I really had to go look at that article in newspapers.com It is in Statesville NC which of course didn't make sense but NOWHERE is there a date listed on any of the pages....even on the front page. I had to search though numerous pages until I found something I could use as a date reference. Sadly this second ad put it all back in perspective.....this was 1935....

Sadly newspapers.com or some source got the date wrong....

Here are a few more from the same paper..

If you hit the little "show filmstrip" button at the bottom of the page of the paper it will show all pages.....none have the date on them....

It wasn't fake, it was a mistake. Herman assumed the date on the site was correct without verifying the date on the article/paper. Even if it was true, there'd be enough doubters to blow it up anyways... Kind of makes me want to NOT share information anymore - not worth the trouble and most people could care less.

Fake news?
Yeah, we've been beat to death with that comment so much, it's in the daily vocabulary.

Don't think that way.

That's what's great about this site. Discoveries happen daily. Somebody will find out something they hadn't known before. All of us don't know everything but as a group we can share and learn. And we've all posted something that someone corrected us on. That's how it works here. Every time I hit "SUBMIT", I assume I got it right but I accept the chance that I'll be corrected. I accept that possibility because I know that I don't know or understand everything.

This website has lost alot of it's fire in the past few years. I believe many of our hard-core members moved on to Facebook, and haven't looked back. I posted our killer California week long dumping trip and got 7 replies in return. Not really worth the time and effort anymore. Of course, you still have Leon, who prides himself in posting about nothing most of the time other than up-ping his post count - big deal. Looking back, it's like this website put a hurtin' on RUSTlings and Facebook put a hurtin' on this website. I guess times have changed....bummer.

For what its worth, full strength beer and hard liquor became legal on December 7, 1933. Each state still had to sanction the sale, but Massachusetts was ready and the bars were packed at 12:01 AM.

The Cali Dumping post has almost 900 views!!! You won’t get that much traffic on Facebook.
This is the best beer can site in the web in my opinion...!

Why drive 12 hour one way to dig Pre-Tax Tru Blu ales, Genny 12 Horse Longopeners, Gamecock Ales, Apollos, Neuweilers Bock, and Krueger’s Baldies when you can locally drive 10 hours round trip and dig Pfeiffer, Goebel, Drewrys and Strohs?
