Anheuser Busch Mystery

#1

Post by pinnacle-project »

I came across this Anheuser Busch glass mug on ebay.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-Anheuser- ... SwX4BczMLC

On the bottom of this mug is the address:

117 Fuller NE Grand Rapids MI 49503

This address is for an ordinary house which the seller says was built in 1919. Like the seller, I do not see a correlation between the address and Anheuser Busch. Since the mug is made out of glass, it seems unlikely this is a one off mug. More likely, it seems like it would have been made in quantity, but why?

Any hunches?

By the way, the seller states, "Anhesuer Busch had many breweries in Grand Rapids." As far as I know, this is incorrect. I am 99.99% sure Anhesuer Busch never had a brewery in Grand Rapids.

Also, the reference he made to pre-prohibition glassware is probably a bit misleading. The zip code on the bottom assures this mug is not older than 1963.

Anhesuer Busch may not of had a Brewery in Grand Rapids But good chance it had Bottler in Grand Rapids bottle & sell there Beer for them or a Agent or Distributor do it for them & in some cases these would say Grand Rapids on them. I've seen many similar bottles & have some big name Breweries Like Pabst ect,, ect, from Michigan. And got a Stroh's bottle that sez Cleveland on it. BUT, This would of most likely been in Much Earlier Pre Prohibition Times & as you said the newer looking Mug with zip code seems odd. LEON.

Any chance it was just the make of the Mug? Also many addresses have changed since the inception of 911. So two places could have the same address, one old and one newer.

There was a AB distributer in Grand Rapids. It I right down by the arena. There are plenty of fake items on the market.

This tray proves the Liberty Bell was made in Grand Rapids and the Declaration was signed there at AHRC, 49503....
Mug is real and rare.

Interesting. So AHRC must simply be the name of the company that made all of this stuff and the company's address was 117 Fuller NE Grand Rapids MI 49503. It still seems odd that address is a house.

@Mike S I saw your post about addresses changing after 911 dialing started. Something similar happened at my parent's house but I do not believe that happened in Grand Rapids. I am sure that is something I would remember if it did.
