This Brown Derby quart

by Salem Brewery Association, Salem, Oregon. I seen a couple on grades but never been able to obtain one for myself. I dumped this one back in the early 1980’s while in high school and have never been able to upgrade.

Since getting back into collecting cans again only six months ago, this is the only example of a Dickens Dry Ale that I've been able to pick up, would love to get a major up-grade of it, it's by far the worst looking can on my shelves...lol

This one. Whatever the lowest grade is for cans I'm fairly certain this qualifies for it. I only keep it because many times people question whether or not some tabs were ever really made or if the lids were all changed. I don't know if this one was ever in that discussion but let me put this particular can to rest.

No one changed the kids on this bad boy. The seller told me he collected whatever he could find as a pre teen in the 70s. This was the worst condition can he had but had never seen it before so he kept it. 40+ years later he is cleaning stuff out of parent's house and finds his cans. Sells them on Craigslist to me.

Enjoy this beauty!

Any of these. I found them at three different southern Missouri dumps during the 1980s. Except for the red one, which I got in a trade many years ago.
Haven't been able dump a better one (or afford an upgrade) ever since.

Ya know, Marc, those mid-century colors ARE hard to match. I sell antique/vintage toilets online and you'd be amazed at what I go through to make sure people get exactly the shade of artificial chocolate pudding/baby Doo Doo/Bondo they need to match the rest of their bath. I think those Bock Ales set the record for "lowest average grade amongst all known shelfers" in the hobby. I love that you have a picture of them. I'd love for Keith N. to photograph all the New England Beers together, you could put a couple in front and save room in the photo because you could also see the ones behind them.

Matt,

Jim Romine instigated the gathering of Bock Ales at Blue/Grey one year, and I must say it was an excellent idea. It was quite distressing to see how badly the Class Book can has deteriorated over the years, though. It's a tragedy on par with the Hohenadel Bock dumper that fell from a shelf and shattered . . .

There is a lot of "one person's downgrade is another person's upgrade/gift of a lifetime" in this post. Should I ever buy a Kiewel, that one would end the search!
