Disregard statement for olive drab cans?

You have an OD flat top can with the usual WF statement, and there's all these unfilled cans left over after the war order was dropped, but the cans are already rolled, and they want to fill the cans for civilian consumption, so they solve the problem by declaring the contents tax paid by printing a disregard statement on the lid. That's what I've been told. Done.

1. Do we know of any counterpart examples wherein the statement instead disregarded the fact that the contents are no longer tax paid but are now WF? Either OD or non-OD?

2. How did they handle unfilled OD cone tops or crowntainers in terms of a disregard statement?

Clearly, there's not a convenient place to print such a statement, unless it had a flat bottom, but even that's not conspicuous. Maybe there were none of these style of cans left over, the can company unrolled them (melted them down, whatever), reused them or used a different crown to null and void the WF statement?

Some of them they sold to shoe polish companies, brake fluid companies, fish companies, tar companies, Automobile Polish ect, ect who either put a paper label over them or painted over them, but I assume you already knew that. LEON.
