Old Milwaukee

#1

Post by mrlager428 » Sat Feb 16, 2019 9:28 am

I am a little curious about this Can....I have been watching Ebay for over a year now and I only see this Can with the Silver trim in Aluminum and those are from either Longview or Tampa....All the other Genuine Draft Beer Old Milwaukee's have the real Light Grey trim and they are dated the early 70's....Does anyone have this particular Can?....I dont think it's Rare I just haven't seen another!

I got 8 different variations of the draft can. The one I have just like yours( similar but 12 oz. at bottom) has a duller flat silver. I have one (maybe 2) that looks more like a goldish colored trim. LEON.

Yeah.....gold, that’s funny. This one has a gold side and a silver side! I think the ‘66 flat top is the most difficult? Ziphippie

I didn't know it comes as a Flat Top!...I would think 1966 was late for a FlatTop??...I wonder what was up with that?....I'm sure that ones going to be tough to find!!.....I like the Challange!

Interesting can.
It seems to have quite a variety of lids on it, early tab, lift ring, steel super soft top, and flat top. Wonder if there is an aluminum soft top? Certainly fits in with the time frame.
The steel "super softop" that I have (on the left) has a rolled lid on the bottom. So it makes sense that they filled the cans from the bottom.
So..., my question would be, why would Schlitz choose to have so many different tops? Most (of the 1966 cans ) seemed to have come from Milwaukee.
Location? Different lids going to different states with different lid laws? I have no idea..., I'm just throwing it out there.

the one on the left has a rolled bottom, that's why it's shorter. The right one is an older tab, "pat pend"

This can is a little bit different in color on the label. Don't know if is a water can or original color.?? If is orginial color? Is it tough or common can ??

I'd say that 102-13 is a water can mostly due to the bottom rim being rusted. There was a marshy dump of 60s tabs I dug that had Old Milwaukees, OMD and Buds with that same maroon discoloring.
"Still looking for 2 specific examples of the following cans I traded away years ago.
Berghoff LP cone: indoor with rusted seam and slight touchup on white stripe in upper right of label. Also a copper colored Drewrys "Taurus/Gemini" scene; indoor with yellow smoke damage and top lid half cut out.

Will trade a better examples, other cans or buy from you!
