Have you ever noticed this Pfeiffer variation?

#1

Post by pinnacle-project »

There are a lot of very knowledgeable people on this site so probably 85% of you will not learn anything new in my post. For the remaining 15%, here is something I learned a couple weeks ago. Do you see the difference? Look carefully at the text below Premium Beer. With the print so small, I had never noticed this before.

From the water wonderland

vs.

From the Great Lakes country

Does anyone know if one is more common than the other?

The writing on those cans is so small I always wondered why they even bothered.....and like Leon pointed out....they just took it off on the 3rd variation.

With this post, I've now moved from the 15% to the 85% camp.

Does that now make it 14% and 86%?

Good Stuff!!

In the picture at the start of this thread, one can is white faced, the other is the blushing variety. So the question is, on the third variety that Leon mentions, what kind of face? White or blushing?

Reminder that I spent nearly five years and much travel attempting to document as many known Michigan beer can variations I could find, website is www.mbcinfo.com.

As for the white can with tear drop I count:
  • Great Lakes Country - Five flat top variations
  • From the Water Land - Four flat top variations
  • No writing - One flat top variation
  • No writing - Two zip tab variations
  • No writing - One fan tab variation
  • Great Lakes Country - test can, Johnny all red

And another reminder regarding Michigan cans/variations, Chris Taylor, Dave Wheaton, and myself wrote a number of Rustlings articles that can be found at the following links, with follow on links to the actual beer can photographs.

The fan tab is a tougher sleeper in my opinion. One Pfieffer I'd like to see is a original Woodgrain Pfeiffer zip top. But heard it don't exist. I assume the woodgrain Pfeiffer came out after the zip top period. LEON.

I have had a few different of the cans takes about. I kept a dumper, 1st or 2nd series zip. No bumps on lid..
Cool subject.

Like seriously, I have been sitting here about how this Pfeiffer thread affected me -- that I wasn't really ramping up in terms of excitement for Blue/Gray this week, then I read one post where guys are geeking out about the small print on the bottom of a Pfeiffer label, and suddenly it's all there. I'm back in touch, good to go. Thank you. Seriously.

This is my tribe. See you at the show.
