If you ever want to learn from the masters...just follow Jim Wolf, Jerry Cole or some of those other BCCA Product Development team guys around that are working on the USBC Supplements.....they have a wealth of knowledge. I have always been on the hunt for Colt 45 variations from Miami. I had never realized that there is the dull none silver trimmed version of the "Colt 45" and the silver trimmed versions.....I just happened to notice that when I had two Colt 45s from Miami on my shelf....you can spot the difference in the photo hopefully. I also noticed that the seams were different. Both look like USBC 1 228-2 since they both have the same face but the seam is obviously different. The can on the left has the soft top.

The no silver trim is the older tougher variation. At least that's the way it goes with the Detroit Michigan Colt 45's. LEON.

Yes, this is always difficult to notice unless you have the 2 cans side-by-side. It is even harder to see the differences in images.

Jim has started using the convention that there is metallic (mirror reflecting), dull (brushed metallic) and enamel (opaque). Also, with the National Brewing Company (and later Carling National and Heileman) cans, there is a can design code that helps you differentiate the cans. We are adding those codes as we go through the supplement.

I have been going through my old tab-top trade stock and finding variations I did not know I had. As I am cheap, I also spend time going through the old tabs at shows and am finding some of these minor differences and some of the late tabs that did not make it into the book.

Keith - that is pretty cool - I do have two of the 16oz MIAMI blue letter flats - my one with 1963 on side is also a softop - but my flattop with the Contents 1 Pint on side is the older letter style without the silver edging. I would not have thought to even look until now - so we both have another one to look for now!
