I would guess that's a good one, Since the Brewery only lasted till 1963 in Baltimore, I'd guess it should be either a Aluminum Soft top Flat top or a Zip Top Pull Tab. Maybe a Test can. LEON.

@MEM1964 Considering the other 7oz aluminum cans in that same neck of the woods (i.e. Baltimore)....Gunther and National.....I could see consideration might have been given to trying out a 7oz Hamms....Since the Hamms Brewing Co. took over Gunther Brewery there was likely already the 7oz canning line to consider....

@MEM1964 and @Leon Based on the date of this article The Baltimore Sun Wed Jun 24 1959 and the acquisition of the Gunther Brewery by Hamms (1960), I'd say they likely gave the 7oz aluminum cans some serious consideration........BTW if you were ever wondering when those 7oz aluminum Gunther cans were produced.......

The demise of the Kaiser Aluminum plant there in Baltimore likely drove the decision not to make the Hamms cans.....again time that with the acquisition by Hamms....1960....

As a collector that specializes in the little cans - that is AWESOME!. How come with no lid? Has anyone seen one with a lid? I assume it was alum.

Thanks for posting and find another one for me!

Not to take anything away from this amazing thread but @Leon asked..........here is the one can on my shelf that I dug in Va. a few years ago. Not sure if I keep many of them. They were "Just a stinkin' Hamms!!" at the time....this is the one I've kept for my shelf....

Any Hamms from Baltimore is a decent can imho, been flipping every one for years looking for ones for my former east coast shelf. Only found 1 blue can with the aluminum top.

Totally agree with the competition with national and Gunther

There are a lot of collectors (me included) that would love to add this 7 ouncer to their collection. Looks like a can that never went into production and was never filled. Great find. If you are looking for a buyer count me in!

Not much goes on in the 7 & 8 oz world. So this is a stunning find. I wonder why Hamms did not add this to their production. The other 7 oz Aluminums from there seemingly had a decent run for years.

I've dumped the zip and the Sunburst cans many times. The 16 oz cans and the last flat are tough. I'm still looking for the ones with the silver band along the top.

Completely outside of my collecting focus - but as already has been said - cool can! Had no idea Hamms bought the old Gunther plant - nor that Gunther claimed to be first in aluminum 7oz cans?

Al, is it by Theo. Hamm Brewing Company, Baltimore, MD or Theo. Hamm Brewing Company of Baltimore, MD? (It comes both ways) I hope its rare but since I have one I doubt it.
