Just very good? I think your day was more than very good.
What's the story behind that? Lucky antique store find? Purchase from another collector?
Congratulations!

RB member and collector , so even though I do know most of the history on this can there is no great story except it stayed in the RB.pinnacle-project wrote: ↑Tue Nov 13, 2018 9:54 pm Just very good? I think your day was more than very good.

Re: A Very Good Day!!
Can was featured decades ago in the BCCA magazine. Later Lewandowskis contacted the owner who sent it to them. Later I got it from Lewandowskis. I sold it on eBay to Rand. He sold it recently in his auction. The buyer in the auction then turned around and resold it right away. That's the history of that can.

Re: A Very Good Day!!
The rumor-mill back in the 1980s was that the can was originally found outdoors somewhere in Florida. That always seemed a bit improbable to me, but no one (to my knowledge) was ever able to offer any reliable evidence that it was found elsewhere. The St. Louis ABC brewery sent cans all over the country (mostly west), so who knows, maybe a few cases of Triangle were sent to Florida.
Jay S found his a few years ago in southern Missouri, and the can pictured in the BCCA flat/cones book was also found in Missouri. Those are the only three that I'm aware of.

Re: A Very Good Day!!
@Kotto John......if the can has the original lid and it was shipped to Florida it would have had the Florida stamp on top. The lids on this can were replaced. I searched newspapers.com without any luck. I tried "Triangle beer" and "Triangle Deluxe" without any luck across the entire USA.Kotto wrote: ↑Wed Nov 14, 2018 11:28 am The rumor-mill back in the 1980s was that the can was originally found outdoors somewhere in Florida. Re: A Very Good Day!!
Just for a bit of clarification on where I got the can.....it was not on ebay but through a direct transaction with a RB person .....but not Matt. Matt may have had a different one he was trading! :-)

Re: A Very Good Day!!
Hey everyone, I just want to be clear. Needed to sell some cans to pay for the new house......if someone on eBay wanted to throw out a crazy price I would mull it over.....I reached out to a few RB'ers before it went to eBay and wanted it to stay within this organization, I even mention the RB in the auction, Steve made an offer and I was sure to find him over here and be sure he got the can for what I paid for it plus lunch.
I've never bought cans from generous people here to turn and flip for big $$$$. I've always gone back to sellers to see if they missed the cans before I moved them to someone else.
I MISS THE TRIANGLE ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: A Very Good Day!!
Based on all the chatter about this windfall of $28k I thought I'd bring back this post for what is known of can's history. Congrats Steve!!!
