Hit some tique shops today, and a question

#1

Post by CrustyRusty »

Only two finds worth mentioning, picked up a nice Fort Pitt Bakelite tap knob, there was a couple others I should have grabbed, I may go back for those, and a old beer bottle from the Greensburg Brewing Co., Greensburg, Pa., a brewery I haven't heard of, I did a little research and found that it operated from 1888 through 1920, making it a pre-pro bottle labeled "Old Reliable Lager", does any one else have this bottle or label?, I'd like to know what the rest of it should look like, there was a label around the neck as well, only a very small piece remains of it, or any other info about this brewery would be nice.....

I did find another brewery (not from Greensburg) using the "Old Reliable" on a different style label, makes me wonder which one is on that list....Mine has a crimp on crown style cap which makes think it's post pro, but still unsure, if it is pre-pro, it would have had to be in the very last time period for the Greensburg brewery.

Any IRTP on the label? That would certainly help determine the age. I believe it is the same one featured in that ad since it is the right region.....

Yes, it is IRTP, I also read where "Greensburg Brewing Co." was open for business from 1933 til 1936 on the same site I got the info in my first post, not sure if it just re-opened for a short time and then closed from hardship due to prohibition.
