From FEB WWII Campsite Italy OD cans
Hi guys, I do not write so often because not so easy fond OD cans but sometimes I like share my cans find.
I had a strike in FEB area ( Brasilian Force in Italy during WWII ); I found in a old estate some different US cardboard and WWII stuff. Also 4 nice OD cans, different.
The Schaefer cardboard is really nice, good condition.
Next week end I will go to military flea market, I hope in something. Next November is possible I will be in NYC.
I hope you enjoy my finding

Re: From FEB WWII Campsite Italy OD cans
Thanks for posting. Love seeing the cardboard box with the packing date and info. Very cool. Interesting that there was only one Schaefer can and 3 other OD cans. Where are the other Schaefer’s from the box?
Thanks. Dave

Re: From FEB WWII Campsite Italy OD cans
I was just noticing the same thing! Where are the other Schaefer's?
Four cans, all different. Perhaps someone, many years ago, set these aside so save an example of each. Glad they did!

Re: From FEB WWII Campsite Italy OD cans
Looking at the Schaefer box and info on the box, there is another possibility:
The box contained the withdrawn free Schaefer USBC 127-35 which is pre-war but not an olive drab can.
The JCQMD-P.O. (Jersey City Quarter Master Depot Purchase Order) would have been a purchase for military personnel stationed at the U.S. embassy in Rome which was active until diplomatic relations were severed and the embassy was closed on December 11, 1941, after Italy declared war on the United States.

Billy, you always bring another vantage point into view. Goog sleuthing. Sounds very plausible.
Thanks. Dave

Re: From FEB WWII Campsite Italy OD cans
Thanks to all for informations and comments. I think this cardboard did not reach Italy before the war, maybe not shipped. Usually all supplies arrived to Tuscany from Leighorn ( Livorno ) harbor, captured only during summer 1944.

Re: From FEB WWII Campsite Italy OD cans
Flea market was not so good for OD beer cans, but nice for other stuffs.
Only one OD Schaefer can, Cheddar ration can and Petrolatum. Also very nice corn cardboard still sealed and full of 24 cans but I think I will not cook anything with this corn

Nice finds. I had to look up petrolatum, never heard of it. Vaseline petroleum jelly.
