Starting to bug me
With all the interest lately regarding zips, it got me to thinking why there isn't a Tivoli Bock zip. There are 3 Tivoli labels that transitioned through the flat to super soft to tab era. Two of the three have a zip top version. What is missing is the Tivoli Bock. As you can see, after the super soft, the next lid variation is the U-Ring (Lift Ring And Pull). Why is there no zip? The only possible thing I come up with is the Mile Hi Bock lid flat, which may have been on the market during this time frame. Pure conjecture.......
Anyone out there have a zip Tivoli Bock? The federal tax code is 10 times bigger than the Bible with none of the good news

Re: Starting to bug me
Good question. Tivoli Denver was a zip, as was Mile High. However, Heritage and Tivoli Gardens went straight from a flat to an early ring pull.

Re: Starting to bug me
Just a thought...Bock isn't a year round offering and the transition happened during the time that bock beer wasn't in production. When it came back during bock season, the U-tab was in use and the zips were outdated by then.
Again, just an idea based on nothing more that conjecture.

Re: Starting to bug me
This could very well be an explanation. The same thing happened to Ballantine in the late 30's/early 40's. There are six different designs on the backs of those cans, but because of the timing of Bock Beer in the Spring, only four made it to Bock cans--no "Ballantine Inn" or "Just For Fun" Bock cans.Malt Lager wrote: ↑Sat Aug 25, 2018 8:55 pm Just a thought...Bock isn't a year round offering and the transition happened during the time that bock beer wasn't in production. That would maybe be true if the zip only lasted 1 year but it lasted about 3 years. Bock came out around March of every year so probably not a bock zip in March of 62 but There are plenty of other Bock zips tops out there probably from March of 1963 & 64. LEON.
