Zip Tab Summary
First of all, I’m absolutely no expert on the subject matter.
I put this together based on what I was able to learn from the excellent information in the Early Tab Guide of the Reference Section as well as the recent thread “Zip Types” initiated by Oldmoneytexan. I think that this could possibly be a decent generic summary of just the Zip Tab.
I’m posting it here for everyone’s scrutiny. That is what you all do best. You discuss, you research, you critique and you offer assistance. Read through it. Tell me where I’m wrong, tell me what I left out (provide info/evidence to support your corrections). After a reasonable amount of time has passed, corrections being made if necessary, I will submit it for inclusion in the Reference Section if deemed worthy.

Good Job, unfortunately I know 0 about them, so I'll leave it up to the others to comment.

Re: Zip Tab Summary
Looks like a new composite list or a new addition to the reference forum. Excellent compilation!

Re: Zip Tab Summary
Comments are much appreciated. Thank you.
oldindiapaleale,
Exact type of scrutiny I was looking for. Thank you. Even little crap like that can bring into question the validity of the contents. I'm hoping this effort can be a reasonable but simple reference for Zip Tops.
Anyone think it would be useful to add a page showing the lids in closed position right next to an opened lid for each category?

Re: Zip Tab Summary
Thanks for putting this together!
I will add that after a very brief stroll across a couple of non-USA zips on the shelves there are Third Generation Continental Can Company #1 zips on the German Schmalbach Lubeka canning company cans w/S11 symbol cans and the Dutch TDV (Tomassen & Drijver - Verblifa) cans. I also have a 3rd-Gen CCC #2 zip on a Reeds can from England. I have heard stories that suppose that as the ring pulls came out, any remaining zip lids in stock were sold off to other canning companies overseas - so it may be that "Only Found on CCC Cans" notes on page 2 needs an asterisk? Or it may be that by the mid sixties Continental had some ownership in other canning companies? I will try to post pictures when I have time, but right now need to begin the grand sorting necessary for packing well for CANvention.

Ed,
Awesome reference guide. As far as dogbones, all of mine (I have 17) are Keglined. The only American is the Westover.

Re: Zip Tab Summary
Again guys, appreciate the comments. Thank you.
Mark (expired),
You bring up a valid point. It makes sense that manufacturers would peddle old inventory overseas when a newer generation product surfaced. Regardless, I gave no consideration to possibility that Foreign cans would/could have Zip Tops. What I put together was based on the RB Reference section work by Kamsquared & others. I researched the BCCA Volume II book as well as numerous postings on the RB website. All that data was/is concentrated on the US portion of this hobby. I would think that it would be understood that the info contained therein is US based. If it ever becomes an issue, I can always rename it to US Zip Tab Summary.

Re: Zip Tab Summary
While I figured your write up was US centric - I am a bit of a zip fiend when it comes to non-US cans and it had me wondering if there were other unique zip lids out there by other can manufacturers such as Metal Box, or if the non-US matched/used what was made in the US. I know that I have a Swiss zip with "LEVEZ - TEREZ" along with "LIFT TAB & PULL". I need to look at my Tecates as well.
