Hopfheiser beer crate, Antique store find

#1

Post by Wrestling Nut »

I thought I'd share this. In Virginia on a vacation. Found an antique store and kicked around inside to find this guy. I think Hopfheiser was only made from 35 to 36 so dating it shouldn't be too hard.

@Wrestling Nut Brad....I believe the dates listed on Tavern Trove are incorrect. I believe based on these ads it was brewed and made available from 1933-1938. It was even known to be sold at numerous locations here in Florida.....I'll be damned if I'd be lucky enough to find any of the breweriana here in Florida....

Yep. Went back and picked it up last night. I don't collect cases but figured it should be in the hobby and not left to chance.

Thanks Keith. Great info.

Yes Barfly, there were tons of Hopfheiser cans laying inside the crate. After purchasing the crate, I just dumped them all in the nearest trash can.

At one time there was an Antique store in Front Royal VA that one of the sellers used Loewers and Hopfheiser crates to display their collectables in. there must have been 10-12 of each kind. I contacted the seller many times, but she would not sell "ANY" of them. I even offered to replace the ones she had with better ones. No Dice. I use the crates for making displays in my beer room and would really like to have a Hopfheiser. If anyone has one let me know!
