Re: Soooo.....who got what???
I bid on several cans esp the 8oz Fox D can - the selling price was very reasonable. Someone got a nice toughie!
I ended up withe PBR Old Tank Ale - the one with the curved letters at the top. Not really part of my collection base - but I just think it is a bitchin can!.
Can't wait to get it in my hands and on the shelf.

Re: Soooo.....who got what???
The block letter Pabst Old Tankard is a very cool can. I would have bid on it if I had known what a few cans later in the auction were going to cost me.
The 8 oz. Fox Deluxe without the U-Permit is very difficult to find. I've been paying attention since the mid-90's and I've only seen three, and I've seen about 20 of the other one in that time.

I consternated endlessly about bidding heavily on that can. Glad it went to someone who appreciates it's quality and rarity.OctoberAle wrote: ↑Mon Aug 06, 2018 9:12 pmChip, that one looks as good as any I've seen! Very nice.

Re: Soooo.....who got what???
I kinda went nuts, but it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. My only regret is not going after the Brown Derby a lot harder.
The Acme is the second one and came directly from Rand. The Arrow Ale was a late addition after bidding came up $10 short of the reserve.

Re: Soooo.....who got what???
I just didn't prioritize it high enough, and it was the first can I wanted to hit the block. If it had come up after I lost a few times, I would have gone higher. I'd never seen an offgrade example anywhere near that nice, and the condition made it much more appealing to me than a lower grade example. My wallet is battered and bloodied for sure, but not as badly as I thought it would be.

Re: Soooo.....who got what???
Mike, Rand, Scott,
Thanks for your comments. The Pilgrim and the undocumented Tru Blu were my top priorities, followed by the long opener Genesee, Brown Derby, 11 oz. Finer Flaver and Peter Doelger Bock, so I got four of my top six and four of my second six. I'm obviously thrilled . . . and I won't see you at Canvention (I wasn't going to attend anyhow, and this was "Canvention Plus" so it worked out very nicely).

Re: Soooo.....who got what???
Just arrived today. Here is the Baldy 473 and related advertising (which is almost as cool as the can).
Rand, where did you find the advertising? I am guessing from 1935 ish or so.

Re: Soooo.....who got what???
Chris,
Great pick up.
Print advertising exists for Kent Ale and the matching Krueger's cans shown in pamphlet, dated October, 1935.
I first saw the pamphlet in a BCCA newsletter many years ago and thought it was about the coolest thing I'd ever seen. I won one of eBay for about $50 a few years later. I would guess it was 12 - 15 years ago that I saw a guy at Blue/Grey with a couple dozen of them at $10 apiece. I haven't seen one available for a long time now, and I still think it's a great go-with piece.

Re: Soooo.....who got what???
Great Score Chris! Yea....can't really remember when or where I got the Krueger ad, but like Marc said, it's a fantastic "go with" item. Depending on how you display stuff....if you have , let's say, a display area for Krueger, and maybe one for Pabst and one for something else....adding that to the Krueger section along with an ale a bock and an opener and possibly a back bar sign etc....would make a killer display!

Re: Soooo.....who got what???
A full-length opener too; that's a nice pick up. I was baffled by the R6/R6 rating on that one when the book came out and still am. It took me a long time to get one, and it's the worst of my three Pabst long openers. I'd want to call it R8/R8 I think. The last one shows up pretty regularly, but the others are really tough to find.Clarkston1 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 10, 2018 8:08 pm Nothing fancy, but a nice day when you can pick up a book can from 1935.
