Kamm's Bock Crowntainer - Easy to fake?

Okay, this auction is over so now I have a question.

This is a paper label can. Since bock beers are only produced for a short period of time, I do not doubt Kamm's would take a bottle label and glue it over the regular label on one of their cans. That would have made complete sense back in the 30's and none of the customers would have cared. Now, fast forward 80 years to people who actually collect this stuff. It seems like this can would be a target for fakes. Somebody could buy a bottle label and a can for a lot less than the $332 this can sold for.

I'm not saying this can is a fake. Obviously the person who bought it for $332 thinks it is real. How can one tell this is real?

One more question. This can is not listed in the BCCA book or the online supplement. Is this because it is a paper label or just because it has been overlooked?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

Interesting.

seller says "Was authenticated by several...you make the call." So has to be good, right?!?!?

I was following that auction just out of curiosity as I don't collect crowntainers. Didn't even realize it was a paper label until you mentioned it. Did notice it's not in the book. The seller has sold a lot of other breweriana on ebay, so not a one time hit type of thing.

Real deal or fake?????

I assume this can was real but I am trying to be proactive for the next time I see one. This can is in my focus area (Michigan, South Bend, Fort Wayne) so I would like to get one someday. I know it won't be a cheap can so if I find one, I want to be sure it is real.

Must be a glitch. I'm sure they (Ebay) doesn't want it that way. :smt018

BTW, is this can real? Paper label and not in the book.

I've seen several of them through the years. To me the clincher is the patina of the label. And, they were all really fully glued on, not just two stripes of glue like bottle labels of the era.
I'm in the they are real camp. I also think I have a photo of a Kamms crowntainer case box with Bock on it. I'll be digging for that image.
