Article about Spring Thaw 2018

#1

Post by Beverlx »

In which: my wife decides she's gonna come to Spring Thaw with me, after years of happy marriage in which she sent me to beer can shows alone.

I got my trading in on Thursday. Friday she shows up with a notepad in hand. How do you introduce your wife to the madness that is Spring Thaw?

We begin with Mr. Pasquinelli holding forth on getting, cleaning, and reselling. Visit the crown guys on the front wall. Go meet Mr. Lebo and see the devastation in his room. Stop by Rusty Bunch hospitality to eat the good food of Mr. Kerschner. Have deep, searching conversations with a man in a bumblebee suit. Get trucked in the mini-golf tournament by Mr. Barbacci and Mr. Galamba. Long Saturday night hanging out with Mrs. Lebo at the Big House.

All this has gone in an article that ranks with the best and funniest ever written about the hobby.

It's my understanding that the photographer who came down, shot a thousand photos of Mr. Kretschmer rolling Jubilees (the editor didn't use a single one!), and made the Maryland boys walk through the parking lot about ten times for her sunset-and-neons shot, is the official photographer for the governor of Pennsylvania. Or maybe it's the statehouse.

Hope you guys like the article. She did us right. Now I'm worried that she's gonna show up every year!

Did you really yell "Black Label 1965!" ? :smt064
"Although the cans will be of no value after opened, their cost is expected to be small..." Iowa: June 22, 1935

Why drive 12 hour one way to dig Pre-Tax Tru Blu ales, Genny 12 Horse Longopeners, Gamecock Ales, Apollos, Neuweilers Bock, and Krueger’s Baldies when you can locally drive 10 hours round trip and dig Pfeiffer, Goebel, Drewrys and Strohs?

Lol... Great article! Obviously I relate to ALL of it. I like the part where she is naming professions and I almost know everyone she is referring to....
