I could go for the generic cans. The wife will be upset, but they would look nice lining the walls of the basement stairs.

Give me an idea on cost of cans plus shipping and I will let you know for sure either way.

Thanks, Mark G

As for sorting , One car trailer down and one to go, not counting the space in between the trailers about 6' X 15' X 4' of mostly dumpers, a few cases of OIs but mostly 50s western flats and also he dug in Virginia a number of time on TDY so a bunch of stuff one would find in VA

Its been fun but its a lot of work...I could think of a lot worse jobs than sorting a beer can collection

Come to the Roadrunner show in Albuquerque in May and Ill let you pick through my garage. I'll be bringing what I can to Omaha

out

Dan
Wanted Frederick's cone ,Balboa IRTP by Southern Finer, Flavor ale by Monarch, Little Imp, gold IRTP Finer Flavor by Southern, Lucky Lager OI Withdrawn free, white/gold Imperial from Maier, Tornbergs WF cone,Rainier OD cone,Niborg,Acme 3.2% on side panel, Malt Syrup tins or labels,Uncle Dan's Root beer signs ,I-7 openers needed....BALBOA,UNION, ROGER WILLIAMS ALE

Here's an oddball Texas can I found. It's a Falstaff Bicentennial by General Brewing Co of SF & Vancouver (on side panel), but the lid says brewed by Pearl Brewing Co of San Antonio, Texas....

@Cap-Sealed Ed....not sure if this help connect some of the dots but here are a few items from an article...

Paul Kalmanovitz, 76, an immigrant who has masterminded Falstaff's survival since he took over in 1975, denied there were any liquidation plans when questioned directly by a shareholder at Falstaff's recent annual meeting, the newspaper reported.

Besides his control of Falstaff, Kalmanovitz is chief executive of two private firms -- General Brewing Co., whose main plant is in Vancouver, Wash., and Pearl Brewing Co. of San Antonio, Texas. He also is president and chief executive officer of S&P Co., described in Falstaff's annual report as a company with brewery operations, real estate and other investments.

Cap-Sealed wrote: Thu Mar 22, 2018 1:24 pm Thanks to all for your feedback. Now we have a better idea what to look for (and save) during our thinning process. Almost all of these cans are bottom opened and if there's one can there's most likely a case. When i do see something cool while I am crushing the aluminum, I usually put 4-6 of them away, espeically I have a case. I crushed 80lbs of aluminum last weekend. Got a whopping $36 for them, but it goes towards the rental truck and gas, and there's plenty more headed that way.

Also, there are hundreds if not thousands of dumpers to thin out as well.
Bring those dumpers to Omaha if you can. I'd love to dig through a bunch of cheap rust.

Interesting article. Like what it says about "Falstaff's wealth of real estate." That may be true of some of its other breweries, but the New Orleans brewery was near the jail in one of the less desirable parts of town. It's been redeveloped into apartments now, but the surrounding neighborhood is not somewhere you want to be after dark. That is a vastly different story from Jax, which sits on some of the city's most desirable land.

As to the Pearl thing, were there late Falstaff cans that came from Pearl? I'm going to have to check mine tonight.

Always thought that Olympic Schlitz was cool.....because it was the year we boycotted the olympics. Always pictured some guy in Schiltz marketing losing his job over that. Never found the can to have a lot of monetary value.....but it's a great talking point on your shelf when you're trying to show your collection to a non-collector.

Rand :-)
This is the can that I found in the "aluminum bag" when I was a kid and put my first 13 cans on the shelf that really got me excited to collect cans back in 1982.
I dump cans and cars, if you find old cars & trucks while dumping, please let me know.

In general I tend to agree, but if you can do something ... you might want to try to sort the straight steel cans and any cans from sets out and post some big group photos here. Those are likely the ones that hold some value, if any of them do.

We're set them (foreign cans) all up in a big pyramid and take a photo of them. I doubt anyone would want those 5L cans.... I may just use them for target practice! There are at least 2 cases of Canadian, a case or so of German cans, lots of English cans, Swedish cans, Japanese cans and who knows what else. I'd like to sell them in lots instead of single cans.

The good news is, half the pile (of everything) is sorted and off Dale's property.

OK - if I have time tonight, I will post some pix of foreign cans that I accidentally brought home (instead of leaving them at Dale's house) and let me know what you think.

Dan & I have about 300+ cans listed on ebay right now, many with a buy-it-now.

Check out seller names Cactuscans & Keg-lined

Thanks, Ed

There is a fire ban in NM and that means no shooting, so not sure where we can go now.....

Dan is going to gather up all the foreign can boxes this Saturday and take a group picture...maybe there's something worth saving in the bunch.

Yeah, I heard on the radio the other day every county in NM is under red flag conditions. Got that here too. Currently a fire near Pueblo covers 40 miles. Never shoot in these conditions.

That would be a lot of cans to haul up!

There's about 30-40 (maybe more) foreign gallons from the 70s...is there any of them that could be rare? They are a serious space eater!
