Here is something for you to chew on. Thought I would finally share this one with you. Here is what I can tell you. Can is rolled with an inserted seam. Can is identical to the Brewers Best flat at 42/3 in the book, except that the flat is metallic and this is enamel. Beer Cans Plus had the flat pictured in the book for a while, so I compared them side by side. They are exactly the same other than (a) metallic vs. enamel, and (b) flat has flat top height, and cone has correct cone height. Canning company code is CCC 5 on both. The guy I got this from had six cones he claimed to have got decades ago from somebody in Chicago, each of which was a sheet that had to be rolled. He had three others at the time I got this, so I saw the other ones that were rolled the same way (but were copies of cans that we already had production runs of). And that is all I know. What do you think? Enjoy. Matt

Re: Brewers Best Cone
Don Hardy of Chicago had one/has one in his totes at Chicago shows
I cannot find the book now, but the old BCU book had it listed in there. They said it was a fake.
It is interesting that these are all flat paint. I have never seen a flat paint flat top.
Not sure if real or not. Rod S.

Re: Brewers Best Cone
Mr Hardy asked my opinion of the can a while back. After inspecting the can, and listening to his opinion, I'm still on the fence. A couple points against would be, Atlantic didn't use cone tops in the 40's, and if it matters, the Tavern Pale I have has a CCC52 can company code, not CCC5. I'd like to see an all original or dumper if one exists.

Yes, the ultimate confirmation, if we could be so lucky. It seems some cans like this leave us with no recourse but investigative reverse engineering, our collective memories and earlier photos and documents. Beautiful looking can, nevertheless! Alas, it does not look like a dumper

Re: Brewers Best Cone
Since it's actually a different can (enamel), and the correct height, I vote real.
