Blue Gray 2018 Posts Here
Blue Gray was already in high gear by the time I made it here 10pm Wednesday evening. Amazing the room to room that was still going on close to midnight...
Picked up a great can from Candog. Plenty of great shine and a great deal from Tom Chegash....$25....picture doesn't do it justice....

Perfect place to put a sticker.....right dead center on the face. Putting prices on the ends of the can didn't do enough damage!

Re: Blue Gray 2018 Posts Here
Gotta say, BG was a pretty good scene in 2018. I was able to go for Thursday and Friday, and room-to-room was hopping throughout. I picked up three new labels and nine upgrades -- the shelf is gonna be a lot more shiny after I get these put up.
And lots of good stories and lies being told room to room.

Re: Blue Gray 2018 Posts Here
The good news is there were a lot of "Younger" guys (20's to 40's) floating around the floors most of the weekend, and they were buying stuff. Some of them were there just for the beer and were looking around, but most were collectors into Craft cans and coasters, and local breweries from the past. This is a good sign as we need more young blood in the hobby. Jerry Cole (Board member) and a few others were talking about how to get the craft brew drinkers of today interested in the hobby. I heard a lot of good ideas.

Re: Blue Gray 2018 Posts Here
One guy selling his collection had some outrageous prices. $400 for a can I didn't buy for $100 a few rooms down. (the well-priced cans were long gone) He did have a dumper quart I wanted. poor shape and with lots of paint over which I thought would strip off with some acetone. He wanted $37.00. I asked if he could do better and he said "$32."
Still too much, so I commented about all the paint-over.
"It's not painted over, I dumped it myself!"
I thought he was kidding and laughed politely. I thanked him and put it back, but he kept commenting about how it was NOT painted over, grumbling that "I guess I need to bring a black lite to shows now." That's when I realized that he was not kidding. He really was denying that it had been painted. It looked like some kid in the 70s used his Testor's model paint to slather over all the white; one of the worst paint-over jobs I've seen and he was insisting that it was all original. wow. When I left the room he was STILL griping to himself.
FWIW, he was the same guy who taped his signs up all over the hallways despite the show's organizers' specific requests NOT to tape up signs...

Re: Blue Gray 2018 Posts Here
Beauty of America. Individuals can sell what they want for how much they want. Buyers can take it or leave it. Appears there may have been some issues there....just have to be the better man. I take it that was pretty much the only room out of the large group like that?or was everyone that way? I wasn't there but friends of mine who were shared some really great deals with me and I was able to pick up some really nice items at what I felt were great prices and at the end of the day I'm glad these shows still exist because without them the hobby would die and my monetary and time investment along with it. Hopefully this fellow was able to get out and see how everyone else's prices were and learned from it.
Interested in all flat and Cone Soda and Water cans.
