Pearl Light top Question

#1

Post by JustJoe »

I was going through some of my cans and came across this Pearl Light with the button top. Did a little search here :smt024 and the only reference I found was for the Oregon version of Billy Beer by Pearl Brewing, Same top but no Oregon Refund statement ?
Need a can whisperer to enlighten me.

In the late 70's and early 80's, Pearl Light was sold basically Nationwide. That can came with almost every top, tax stamp and alcohol statement that you can think of. I have numerous variations, myself.

Not an Oregon related can.
No Oregon refund statement embossed or stamped on the top. That is the common characteristic on all of the "Oregon Bottle Bill" soft top and 2 hole punch tops produced. I have found 1 single Brew 102 that had a sticker refund statement but that is out of hundreds of Oregon refund statement cans I have.(including all stay tabs as well)....
There was another state (Minnesota I think?) that produced or required 2 hole punch tops even in steel cans (various breweries) but they all have "Strong" on them.
Who knows on this one?

Maybe, but in my experience, Oklahoma tax stamps worked in reverse of most other states. 3.2 beer was not marked, while higher strength beer, ale and malt liquor came with an "Oklahoma" stamp.

You may be correct, but I would guess another state.
