Cone with a lid inside?

#1

Post by ConeAddict »

I got this can in the mail today, a Milwaukee Club cone, it seems to have a metallic lid inside the cone. Anyone ever seen a can like this? A rolled can?

What's the bottom lid like? Is it concave? You can see the teeth marks from the top (flat) lid being rolled on. The can body itself looks legit. Isn't that can an FBIR cone? Maybe it was missing the cone and someone mistakenly thought it should be a flat.

The cone would of been a dead giveaway. Looks like a painted rusty cone on an otherwise clean can.

Yes should have been obvious in retrospect, wasn't even looking to buy anything but threw a bid out at what seemed like a decent price for a clean example of this LP cone. The seller did have a disclaimer about this can may be rolled, touched up, etc that he has on all his cans which I took to mean he wasn't an expert or a collector and was covering all possible issues. He offers a 30 day return policy but of course now I "broke" it.

Still not sure what the heck it is, I have seen a couple of these rolled with the fake ribbed j spout so maybe it came from the same flat sheets? It does have a concave bottom.

Why roll it with a concaved bottom & then put a flat top on it's top? :smt017 :smt018

Grind off the top lid, leaving the rim. Get a good donor lid to put on it. It'll display nice.

Probably because the dude who did it had an unrolled top (flat top) but not an unrolled cone top. I it was easier just to roll that flat top lid on to this can and then press a cone top over it that he cut off another can.

Yes, now that I am over my initial annoyance I am going to make the best of it. I have a shiny cone on a scuffed up orange Dawsons that I may be willing to sacrifice. Will probably see if Arts Beer cans will fix it for me so it gets done right, I have another cone with some dents I want removed anyway.

Got it back from Art today, looks much nicer. Oh well, I will just shelf it and never upgrade it. Maybe I will fill it with beer and drink it to make it a real beer can.
