Re: $15,000.00 Krueger Baldy.
He had the pretax Ale as well which went for about $4400 so I am not sure why he thought this one would go for that much more. Nice can, but there aren't a whole lot of folks who can shell out $15,000 for one can (not to mention the $100 shipping which was a turnoff).

Wow! For some reason a lot of really tough early cans seem to come out of Roanoke. VA. Baldies, Eigenbrodts and the like. I am not sure what the deal is down there.

I think the far right can is the one that was just on EBAY. The “scuffs” on the K-man seem to line up

I don't know the seller, so I could be wrong, but I bet he was just using ebay to get offers and had no intention of finalizing a deal through ebay. $15,000 was probably a semi-random number he tossed out.Chris E. wrote: ↑Tue Jan 09, 2018 2:25 pm He had the pretax Ale as well which went for about $4400 so I am not sure why he thought this one would go for that much more. Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

I'll disagree with the last half of that comment. Anybody that has done there research on that can or just knows that can (beer not ale) then they may be aware that the last one like that (beer not ale) sold for around $17,000.00. By Dan Morean I think it was. Maybe 10 years ago. Considering this or if your aware of that then maybe $15,000.00 seems like a good point to start. But I think the $17k was to much before anyways & now that the guy has more then 1 the price should drop. LEON.

Re: $15,000.00 Krueger Baldy.
Many years ago there was a dump find of a decent numbers of the pre-tax Beers not Ales in the Fredericksburg VA area. I think it was Mark Porambo and some others who stumbled onto that dump. Chris Eib, help me out with the details here. I was fortunate to get one of the beer examples then. I am not aware of any dumper Ales although i’m sure they’re out there. The O/I book seems to indicate that the Ale is tougher?

Re: $15,000.00 Krueger Baldy.
Actually, it was john Pribble who found that dump and he showed up at the Richbrau Chapter picnic selling nice dumper Baldies for about a buck a piece. Others including Mark went back to that dump and pulled out a bunch more of them. Other cans in there were Pabst long openers, the first Rams Head Ales, and I think a few of the first Budweiser Eagle Claw cans (not sure about the last one). Krueger, though was the beer and ale of choice for this dump. There were a number of pre-tax Beers found, but not a single Ale. Just about every other variation of Baldy was in the dump except for the one Ale. Every Baldy on my shelf today is from that find.DURTBAGG wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2018 11:43 pm Many years ago there was a dump find of a decent numbers of the pre-tax Beers not Ales in the Fredericksburg VA area. Re: $15,000.00 Krueger Baldy.
Given that Richmond is known as the test market for the first commercially available cans from Krueger, I would guess that other breweries sent cans to what was then one of the few known markets for them. I've also been told that Richmond is or at least was considered to be a good place to test market new items. I have no idea what criteria are used to determine what is (and what is not) a good test market area.

Re: $15,000.00 Krueger Baldy.
Roanoke and Richmond are about 2.5 to 3 hours away from each other and like two different worlds. Can’t believe they would have even been considered similar test markets in 1935. Given that the listing was pulled by the seller, i am guessing that a dealer (or collector) was able to swing a deal. This won’t stay quiet forever, and I’m sure the entire story on this incredible find will begin to trickle out soon.
