Prop cans on Netflix "Stranger Things" show

#1

Post by Longopener »

I know others have seen the prop cans used in "Stranger Things", a TV show that is supposed to take place in 1983 Indiana (Season 1) and 1984 (season 2).

The first few episodes had the sheriff drinking an all aluminum Schlitz PULL TOP with a gold band around the top. Wrong on many points :

1. Based on a 1960 straight steel can
2. 1983 Schlitz cans were tall 12 oz.
3. 1983 cans were stay tabs

Season 2 has scenes taking place in a Chicago warehouse in 1984.

In the background is what looks like an aluminum "Food and Liquor" or "Food and Deli" BEER (the orange, white and blue can) but I can't find it in the books I have. It looks like a generic can by General Brewing Company.

There's also a crimped steel Pfeiffers a CS Hi Brau and a CS Budweiser. At least the crimped steel cans from the region but not correct if they were supposed to be "currents" in 1984.

Why drive 12 hour one way to dig Pre-Tax Tru Blu ales, Genny 12 Horse Longopeners, Gamecock Ales, Apollos, Neuweilers Bock, and Krueger’s Baldies when you can locally drive 10 hours round trip and dig Pfeiffer, Goebel, Drewrys and Strohs?

Did you notice the Falstaff Bicentennial can on a dresser? - It was one of the early shows in season 1

I'll have to do a screen shot of it.
