Any info on this Stroh's 1st issue can 1974
I secured this at an estate sale. The original owner worked for Stroh's brewery and I bought this plus a couple of other things but this item has me stumped. All I know about it is what's on the plaque. Searched high and low but no luck. If anyone has ever seen one before or any idea how many are out there and it's value I would be very greatful.
If you have info you can email me at seandm22@gmail.com
Thanks,
Sean

Its a pretty common can. I believe that's when Strohs went to the tall 12oz drawn steel can. That label also was produced in a normal sized straight sided steel can, which for some reason has eluded me. That's a pretty cool piece of memorabilia though. Nice score.

Re: Any info on this Stroh's 1st issue can 1974
I understand that the can itself is common but the whole presentation of the commemoration of the design of the can is what I want to find out about. It seems to me that this was given to the people who helped design the 2 part can in 1974. I want to know if anyone has ever seen anything like this before not just the can but the can encased in plexiglass.
Thanks
Sean
Thanks

I think the display as a whole would be very uncommon. I doubt if it was given to everyone at the plant so probably only a few key people received them.
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

That's exactly what I thought as well, that it was given to only a few people. I buy & sell so my question is what the hell is this thing worth? Maybe it is just one of those items that it is worth what someone will pay for it.
I also have other interesting items I will post on here that are Beer related that I have come across.
If anyone can identify this piece and establish it's worth I will buy you a beer.. But seriously thanks for any and all the help you can given me
This is a great forum, I'm glad I discovered it because I love collecting and Beer memorabilia is something that I am becoming interested in.
Cheers,
Sean

what is it worth?...maybe to a Strohs specialist...IMHO ...around $25 and that would be the right guy at the end of the rainbow price
it may be uncommon but very little demand...........now if it was a totally different can design , you would have something

That's what I was thinking too. You need somebody who specializes in Strohs. Anybody else would probably not be very excited about it because Strohs is such a common brand. There are probably exceptions but generally speaking, Strohs stuff does not command the big bucks.CMD wrote: ↑Tue Oct 24, 2017 12:00 pm what is it worth?...maybe to a Strohs specialist...IMHO ...around $25 and that would be the right guy at the end of the rainbow price

I specialize in Michigan beer cans and find it interesting. But it is still a common Stroh can and I would probably only give $10 for it.

Re: Any info on this Stroh's 1st issue can 1974
Thanks guys well I guess I won't quit my day job oh yea my day is job buying & selling cool stuff. I have a vintage Stroh's pocket knife and ice bucket along with this item I will start bidding at $50.00-$75.00 for all 3. I just wanted to make sure that the plexiglass Stroh's can wasn't worth a million dollars LOL
I am from Detroit so all Stroh's Beer items are amazing.
It is nice to have the opinion of professional collectors weigh in on this because I couldn't find any reference points on this item. If you guys don't mind I would like to consult you on other items I may find out there, and I guess I owe you guys a beer for the help on this one.
Thanks again,
Sean

Are vintage full beer cans more desirable
Ok I have another question for the Beer can collector experts are these cans anything special, I know the cans themselves are not rare but they are full. Does the fact that they are full make them more desirable. I would like to know this because I run into situations where some old timer has beer from 50 years ago still full in his bar and I usually pass on buying any. If they are not worth anything I guess I will drink them...
Thanks again,
Sean

Re: Any info on this Stroh's 1st issue can 1974
Most collectors do not keep their cans full because they are prone to leak eventually. There is a sub-group on this site that drinks vintage beer when they find it - I'm talking about the real old pre-tab top stuff. Other than lunatics like them, there is not usually much interest in full cans. When I come across one, I immediately bottom open it and dump it down the sink.

AN empty can falls off of your shelf you pick it up and place it back. A full can falls off of your shelf, you mop up a spill and toss the can.

I'm from Detroit & collect Strohs Items. Usually 1970's Stroh Items will have very little value or demand or desirability. The Older the better, I know of certain older Strohs bottles that can get well over $100. Like this bottle older 1890's blob top pictured below. Not to many Strohs cans get any kind of big money. there is a couple of rare exceptions though. LEON.

Wow that is a cool Stroh's bottle amazing graphics, I love antique world's fair stuff. I will start hunting I want some cool vintage stuff. Also I was joking I would never drink beer from the 70's let alone Bush or Papst beer; Wait I can serve it to my brother in law..
Thanks again everyone for the info I appreciate it even though you all crushed my hopes that I had some rare stuff LOL But like I always say "the truth is not for everyone it's only for those who can handle it".

If you want some cool vintage Stroh's I got cases of old pre pro (pre 1919) Stroh bottles (embossed, no paper label) in original wooden cases & without cases. Come on over & I'll give you a bottle or 2. LEON.
