Early Tab (& a few flats) Collection pick up

#1

Post by OhioCanGuy »

Picked up a collection yesterday of early tabs and a few flats. Also, some 70's tabs and some aluminum which I know absolutely nothing about. No ultra rare stuff here, but some fun stuff none-the-less.

All cans are in dusty, as found from long term storage, un-cleaned at all, condition. Please see pic captions and per usual, click to supersize.

Are any of those Black Label tabs from Frankenmuth Michigan? If so I'd be Interested in them? Is the Esslingers zip top for sale? If so I'd be Interested in it. Let me know. LEON.

P.S. I wouldn't throw any out with out running them by us first, could be a sleeper in there?

Looks like a nice collection with some cool variety. I would be interested in the Schmidt Extra Special flat if you’re selling it. I agree with Leon, get all of the tabs checked out by someone knowledgeable. Could be some sleepers in that bunch.

Good Luck.

PM or Email me about the Schmidt Extra Special.

This is definitely a lot better than your run of the mill 1970's collection! I don't see anything super rare but a lot of $1-10 cans throughout, depending on how much time you're willing to spend on them. I spy a Glacier tab worth maybe $25+ in the "winter project" photo. Not sure what the market is for cases of 1975 UT and Houston cans, but they sure bring back memories for me, living in Texas and my brother and sister students at UT at the time ...

I agree that there's some better tabs in there, certainly $5-10 range. Don't see any real sleeper aluminum, but the Dawson Ale and the Narragansett Ale cans are usually worth a couple of bucks apiece.

Are you going to the Lake Erie Chapter Show this weekend? If so, I would be interested in some of your cans.

Thanx.

I agree, in that it's a better pickup than they typical late 70's/early 80's lot. When the guy sent me some pix and I saw the zips, slot tabs, fans and some reasonable condition flats I figured it would be worth the time to check it out. He wasn't giving it away, but we worked it out.

I'll respond to everyone tonight. Headed to work now. Probably should of put this in the advertise section. I'm keeping a small number of cans (third pic down) and maybe a couple more. Otherwise, everything else is fair game.

UT....Houston.....sure....I guess.... but more importantly, the third in the series.....the Texas A&M Fighting Texas Aggies 1975 SWC Football Schedule!!! WOO HOOO!!! GIG 'EM AGGIES! :-)

Seriously, if you would like to get rid of a complete set of the 3 Pearl A&M/UT/UH cans, I would take a set. Let me know!

Oh.....and as to other sleepers in the mix.....that green Hop'n Gator in the first picture would pull in $20+

I am partial to the Texas Longhorns can, myself. I have one in my office at work.

Hook 'Em Horns!

By the way, Pearl made a cardboard schedule that features the schedule can, as well as a large schedule that you can fill in the score results from each game. I've seen one for UT and Houston, but I've never seen one for A&M.

I get the feeling you were under playing your find or this post was a tad tongue in cheek because there are numerous great cans there.

Thanks for the nice comments. I'm going to start replying to PM's now. There's a lot of them. I'll get to some tonight and some tomorrow night. In the order received. Going to try to send a separate pic of the specific cans each of you have expressed interest in. And, thank you for that interest.

Leon: Three of the four Black Labels are Cleveland, the 4th is Natick. The Esslinger is in my Keep pile, sorry.

Jerry: Unfortunately, I won't be at the Erie show this weekend. Some out of town guests (and my wife) are putting the kibosh on that.
