Looks a lot like my collection in the late 70s...currents and cans neighbors brought from their travels. Then I got a detector in 1980. Was out of my mind with joy when I dug a Parti Quiz and a case of Doelgers OIs. Ah the good old days.

The two great loves of your childhood in one photo. Awesome. I was the same way, except I had a Springer Spaniel.

Here are some of mine circa 1974 . I had a Brittany spaniel but she was an outside dog. The Canadian Ace cone was sitting on the kitchen counter of an abandoned farmhouse I went into to warm up when hunting; The Muehlebach Pilsener was found same farm in a chicken coop.

Mid 70s.....horrible pictures, but this thread prompted me to scan them for posterity. Taken with an old Polaroid SX70 in an apartment building somewhere near Bissonnet and 59 in southwest Houston Texas.

Christmas gift exchange at Michigan Tech in Houghton, MI with my college roommates...circa 1988. That's my friend John opening up his 6'er of Old Mil 16 ozers and a can of whip cream.
I had kind of stopped actively collecting since graduating high school in 1986 but always made sure there was a beer can display behind the bar. Didn't really get back into collecting until about 2006.

no idea who the girl is in this photo from 1980 but she liked the can collection so much she just had to get a pic with them. The look on her face says it all....like, really?

I quit collecting mid-eighties but always displayed a wall of cans, didn't start again until I got a cellphone/computer about 2005 and found eBay. Still not a member of Facebook so quit trying to send me there! Bjorn

Here is one of me with my sister, my dad, and our poodle Petite from 1980. Yes, those were the plastic shelves with the black elastic things to hold the cans up from Sears. Real shelves would be a few years later. Really happy at the time because I had just picked up that gallon can at a local flea market- my first big can.

My collection after my first day collecting beer cans. Rode my bike around with a buddy picking up cans off the side of the roads near my parents home in Vienna, West Virginia. 1976. Looking at it now it seems weird that I'd find Coors and Olympia. The Genny Cream Ale started it all when I found it a few days earlier and took it to a friends little brother that was collecting. He said he already had it so I kept it and decided to start my own collection. 41 years later and I'm still at it. Great hobby, great people!
