Virginia City,NV Show & Dig....
Dale & I drove from Albuquerque to Virginia City, Nevada while Rusty Jonesin & Bill Lindstrom flew to meet us in Reno. The show was Saturday July 22nd and exceeded my expectations for attendance. I figured maybe 10 or 15 guys would show up but we had close to 40! Everyone loved the timing of the show and the location. Not bad for a guy who set up the show while living 995 miles away! Next year will be bigger and better. Our plan was to packed up early on Sunday morning and hit the Sierra-Nevada mountains for a week of digging. It turned out to be a great plan as the weather was perfect, and the scenery/locations were even better. We found cans everyday, with our best spot being a 3-day dig and basecamp. Towards the end of the week, more and more people were in the mountains camping, hiking and fishing which put a damper on where we wanted to go, but all in all, we had a blast! Cant wait for next year!
The Virginia City Inn.... next year we'll go bigger. But it was nice and cozy and we partied on the patio all Saturday night.
My take from the show: the Grace Bros Ale OI was an upgrade, the Atles was a new one for the shelf & from San Diego. St Claire Ale was a huge upgrade and acquired from Cheatuedebris in a trade! The El Capitan was a new label for my shelf and CMD told me it was the hard one by Maier - I had no idea. Got a nice St Claire opener too...
Got this cool sign for Dan - it has New Mexico on it.
Pat Franco & Ken H with some Rainier wind tunnel cans... Ken bought 100 of them!

Re: Virginia City,NV Show & Dig....
Thanks! It took a while to plan. I wanted the show in April or May but hotels already sold out. Then it seemed like forever to get here. Now it's just a fond memory with souvineers! Thanks to Mike Wilbur in helping me behind the scenes.....

Re: Virginia City,NV Show & Dig....
You look like you have a winner show Ed. Hopefully next year it won't be so close to the Albuquerque show. Check those Schmidt cans to see if they're Pacific Can Co. variety.

Re: Virginia City,NV Show & Dig....
Dale traded for this flat-bottomed Burger Beer conetop from Dave Rusk. It has a 4% alcohol stamp on it. It was found by Mark Bryant in a pit in Oregon, along with some Hop Golds and the only American Can Company demo can ever filled & DUMPED!

Re: Virginia City,NV Show & Dig....
I don't recall Burgers being dumped out West other than this one Oregon find from 20+ years ago. But Red Lion cones have been found indoors and out in Oregon too. I know Dale dumped a Red Lion, and Pat Franco found 2 indoor ones!foreigncanman wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2017 9:45 am Awesome!! Those Burger cans got around .Usually the ales in the south . Yes, I will check those City Clubs!Scott Rollert wrote: ↑Mon Jul 31, 2017 8:03 pm You look like you have a winner show Ed. Hopefully next year it won't be so close to the Albuquerque show. Check those Schmidt cans to see if they're Pacific Can Co. variety.
The Roadrunner Show got moved from May to July due to the BCCA Board meeting scheduling. So Dan should be able to keep it in May again. I will try to keep the 49er Chapter Virginia City Show the same weekend in July, as it fit perfectly between ABA, NABA and BCCA Can(con)ventions. There is a bigger hotel in VC that has 67 rooms, 26 of them are on the same floor. That is my goal for next year - to start with a block of 26 rooms and go from there. No need to take the big leap and go down in flames. There were a few people who didn't attend because they couldn't get a room where the show was. That shouldn't be a problem next year. Hopefully, I can get Cascade and Rainier Chapters members to attend as well as Arizona's A-1 Chapter. And maybe even some more Rusty Bunchers. RBers in attendance were: Roy and his stepsons (Chris, Steve & Larry K), Bill Lindstrom, Rustyjonesin, Dale, Larry La Duc, Cheateaudrbris, Mike Wilbur, and myself (I hope I didn't miss anyone?) Dumping in the Sierras in the middle of the summer is challenging because of all the people around, but well worth it and can be done. The Reno/Lake Tahoe area is a world-class summer paradise with plenty to see and do. And Virginia City reeks of history. Just something to build on...

Re: Virginia City,NV Show & Dig....
VC is a really great place for the show. You can wander away from the show to the shops and bars easily and stumble back to the hotel without getting in a car. There was plenty for spouses and family to do if they were not interested in the show. The weather in the evening was fantastic

Re: Virginia City,NV Show & Dig....
Yes, the City Clubs are IRTP & no Keglined cans.... are these the ones by Pacific Can Co? CMD says they are good cans...Are they? I have no idea. Some of them are B/O and really nice for dumpers....Scott Rollert wrote: ↑Mon Jul 31, 2017 8:03 pm You look like you have a winner show Ed. Re: Virginia City,NV Show & Dig....
Thanks for all the great comments! Dale & I started out in Albuquerque, renting a GMC Yukon (Tahoe) but it was completely full with all our camping gear. So when we got to Reno, I wanted to upgrade to a Suburban, but they were all out. The lady at the rental counter was way cool, and offered a full size truck to me which worked out great. We still had room for more cans.....
These are the cans I still have left to clean......
