Thanks OldMoneyTexan and Diamond State.

Ive had this happen to me before but this being a test Baltimore can really got my goat.

I lost 2 really nice Old Style Cones , a Great 1+ Arrow flat ( I owned one) and a sweet Prima Cone .

This is the only one Ive pursued and really hope I will find who owns it someday. :smt021

Thanks for anyone showing support. Love the RB , Just wish this stealing behind the mask of the internet

wouldn't happen.

As much effort eBay puts on preventing offline sales, I'd think they would have a hefty charge to sellers to "end an auction early" or in your case, claim, "oops, sorry". How about charging seller a minimum of $50 to end an auction with live bids?

OLd Money Texan Great Idea. Diamond State- The problem is that most of eBAY help is farmed out to the Phiippines. They go off of
strict algorithms written for them. Very few Native USA eBAY staff actually exist

Steve, Please call me Edward. And I fully support you going after this with both barrels. If one or two in the hobby get busted and shamed for doing this, maybe it will stop. I doubt it with all the greed and jealousy in this hobby, but I can dream.

I know several that have been caught literally stealing cans at the shows and wont show their faces anymore.
I also know dump jumpers that have been caught and were busted selling the cans.
Ebay has to be handled in different ways but I will certainly find ways to make things more difficult for
these folks. Buyers and Sellers.

What is a dump jumper?

A person hears a story about beer cans being found in a dump. They find out the location of the dump and head there to grab the cans ahead of this person who originally found the location and told them the story.

Funny how this thread turned into *Crickets* when I mentioned a well known dealer did the same thing......screwing a RBer out of their buy-it-now deal that was bought and paid for on ebay.

NOW, the story I heard, a well known dealer was contacted by the seller (not knowing the backed out ebay deal), agreed on a price, and was going to proceed with the purchase. When he found out about the retracted ebay deal, respectively backed out of the sale with the ebay seller because of obvious implications.

Now I'm pretty sure someone here on the RB knows who really ended up with the can. Maybe they will share the details. Just some minor facts may have been omitted in this saga.

Interesting..... all I know is our buddy Chateaudebris never got his Gunther OI can.... kind of hard to believe the ebay seller backed out of the buy-it-now deal on his own - someone had to tell him/her the can was worth thousands, not the $50 buy-it-now price.

One thing i don't miss about actively collecting is the cut throat mentality over beer cans. I remember once getting sniped on a ebay auction and have the buyer email me seconds after it ended saying "oh did you want that?" Snipe me fine, the email i could have done without.

Believe the 'ebay seller' got several messages or nice offers prior to shipping from the hawks that monitor the completed auction section as their morning ritual. Few searches on the internet lead to red flags the can might be worth more than $50, then contacting the dealers through their websites to see what they would offer.

Anyhow, Dave got a bum deal, as did Steve on the American Draft can. I recommend a public flogging of those doing this, then a not so public roll in molasses and thrown into a fire ant mound...

It seems I may be the only one here with this opinion but here it goes.
- Do we want to be known as a group of hobbyists that actively search out and enjoy and are proud to have taken advantage of a person who is extremely naive on the true worth of a can?
- I do not! If I see a seller who is selling a can which is priced pennies on the dollar I’m going to contact them and inform them of historic prices in the past and reference sites on-line for archive information.
- On the flip side I hear how Sellers should have full disclosure when selling a recently discovered rare can as to how many they may have found (Eigenbrots) and if they do not then there are complaints on how dishonest that seller is.
- you wouldn’t want a friend or family member to experience selling anything for 100 when it is actually worth 500 or 1000 or 10,000.
-How would that make you feel...think about it.
- If it is such a dog eat dog world then expect sellers to be as conniving as you.
