Re: Beer Can Collection for sale.
From the pictures I see a smattering of decent cans and a ton of crap. Unless there are some killer cans not being shown, I would say the collection is overpriced by $373,000.

Re: Beer Can Collection for sale.
I've purchased some nice foreign cans from this site and ebay and blue grey over the years. Some are still on my shelf.Would certainly be a full time job for someone to sell all those cans. The biggest collection of cans I have ever seen outside of the wind tunnel. (pre sorting)

I believe that he responded positively to Senator's question, even leaving name and phone number.

Re: Beer Can Collection for sale.
When buying a collection I want to pay a third of its worth since iwill probabaly be toting it around for years. So this would have to be a million dollar collection for that price to be remotely feasable.
I've seen what a million dollar collectioon looks like - while impressive, this is not that.

Re: Beer Can Collection for sale.
Senator, it's not about the feasibility- it's about the fortitude!
I bought my first gallon from this guy in about 1985 for $20. Old Bohemian! Maybe I'll visit and see if there's a collection hiding in there somewhere among the slag. Though he's been a dealer for decades and prolly knows the difference...

Re: Beer Can Collection for sale.
Hah! He says "cones" in his ad, but there is as far as I can tell only 1 1/2 cones. He has a Dawson's and half a Fehr's (drinking cup with no lid). I feel sorry for the guy because I don't think he actually realizes that most of it is worthless. Sooner or later we all have to eventually confront the day where we throw out all the worthless tabs that we stuck up in the attic or the basement or the garage or the shed or whatever. That day comes for everyone. I finally threw out all of mine earlier this year. Not sure how he managed to assemble as many worthless cans as he did, but it doesn't change the end game for him unfortunately. My guess is that he won't be able to sell anything. Too bad. He's probably a pretty nice guy is my bet. But maybe he'll get lucky and at least find something he can sell. Best of luck to him.

Maybe it's a typo? Because at $3750 he would at least be trying to move the stuff. Confusedwood..................

Re: Beer Can Collection for sale.
No sir, but I have 2000+ dumper to minty flats and cones which maybe on a good day would bring a few thousand bucks. Now if his collection sells for 375,000 times what it's worth, then my few thousand x 375,000 is actually billions ! Who wants to buy?

Re: Beer Can Collection for sale.
I thought the largest collection in the world was about 80,000 cans. This collection is said to be 350,000 cans? So is this the biggest collection in the world?....Tom said he purchased cans from this "site...", so is this collection been picked over by many collectors? If so, that is a lot of worthless cans!... Senator, how many cans were in the large collection you guys bought a few years ago?
Michigan cans, Venezuelan cans, Canadian cans, latin American cans, US flat tops, 16 oz ss and flats, ballantines and Wiedemanns.

Re: Beer Can Collection for sale.
10 years ago from the ebay store. Also got a cool 16 ounce double diamond flat. The 80,000 were different cans. There appears to be cases of the same cans. One of the old dealers years ago had about 100000 to 150000 cans . Lots of trips to the recycler from that collection.Unfortunately some of the 5-10 dollar 70's cans have dropped a bit in price.

Re: Beer Can Collection for sale.
I have bought a few cans from George over the last 20 years. I am guessing I am not alone and it is pretty picked over. I guess the stock reaches that slag tipping point where nothing sells and you are just giving ebay money to list slag.
There are a few big time sellers on ebay giving up lately. Higginslakecollectables recently put up her remaining stock for sale on ebay. I think someone bought the collection because the listing for the collection is gone as are all of her individual listings.

@triplealex This - while I never counted the cans the majority of them are listed here https://get.google.com/albumarchive/117 ... 3713330210jinsequa wrote: ↑Fri Jul 07, 2017 12:46 am I have bought a few cans from George over the last 20 years. I would say around 20K cans this is what it looks like packed up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krEM8qx ... e=youtu.be
I will also state my garage is brimming with eBay slag and my wife's patience for not parking in the Garage is near an end.
I have taken probably 4K cans to the recycling center and there are probably 8K cans left, not counting my old collection and about seven other collections I have purchased.
If I could find a single buyer for the remaining cans Steve and I would be most grateful. The price would be refreshingly low - though all of our prices were low. I those that were there agree.

15,625 cases to be exact if every flat contains 24 cans...........you could build a small beer can village with that many.....

Re: Beer Can Collection for sale.
Maybe instead of selling them he could take them around the country and bury them in shallow pits around old cabins and campgrounds.

Re: Beer Can Collection for sale.
Count does not add up. He says they might fit in a 24' box truck? I have a 14' and the max I could stuff in it when empty was about 675 cases.....x2 = 1,350. I had to make two loads on one collection but it was all or nothing. Luckily I keep a dumpster at my shop.
Need a semi to get these home.
