Re: Single bay
It sold as part of a group of cans both times it sold. I don't know if the cans were priced individually in the second sale or not, but they were not the first time. Call it $35,000 plus or minus about 10%. Call it worth every last nickel of it too.

I thought it was just me..
Either the D is next to the S on a keyboard.
Or it's a one of a kind Dingle Bay?..also Dingle autocorrect s to Single.

Re: Single bay
I've seen two that I would call grade 2, about six more ranging from a little worse to a little better than Scott's, and a good number that are a big step down from there. It's not real hard to get unless you want one you can read, LOL.

Re: Single bay
Ahhhhh! The famous Single Bay! I get it now. Pretty sure I know who got the Single Bay on the first maneuver, not sure where it is now. Also heard crazy numbers in the 5 figures, but don't think I ever heard a definitive final pricetag. Here's the higher res picture I got of that can:

Re: Single bay
Sure. Why not? Modest but they are mine.....
This shelf unit is for my rarer dumpers and cans I like that are not from some of my core breweries (Narragansett, Esslinger, ect). They are all in can keepers so they don't photograph all that well. Much nicer in person......

Re: dingle bay
This can was amazing!!!! My most wanted can since it was my second can ever dumped in 1979 but out of my reach... well it actually was doable but the wife said NO!!!!!!!! The big "D" word was not good!
I got to hold it, kiss it, fondle it and put it down. I know were it was and went and price but sworn to secrecy here in New England.

Here's mine....
"Although the cans will be of no value after opened, their cost is expected to be small..." Iowa: June 22, 1935
Why drive 12 hour one way to dig Pre-Tax Tru Blu ales, Genny 12 Horse Longopeners, Gamecock Ales, Apollos, Neuweilers Bock, and Krueger’s Baldies when you can locally drive 10 hours round trip and dig Pfeiffer, Goebel, Drewrys and Strohs?

Re: dingle bay
The USBC-OI can looks better in person than in the book, and washing the wax off of it would help. There's a pretty good one in Appleton too. I'd like to see Mr. Lang's again also. But, Longo obviously did really well to get that one!

My can is/was Dave Lang's shelf can. He donated it to the RB for the punchboard give away for Canvention in Milwaukee........

Re: Dingle Bay
I had a couple close calls with Dingle Bays before finally landing one. I was in mid-reach for Greenblatt's at his Blue/Grey feeding frenzy years ago when somebody else grabbed it. I missed the can I have now by a minute at Blue/Grey . . . I walked into Woody's room just in time to watch a guy pick it up and decide to buy it. That guy is the same guy who listed a bunch of mostly blue and green cans as a group on the RB Advertise page a couple years ago. I split the group with Liquid Boy, kept the Dingle Bay and Goldenrod Ale, and sold the rest of my half. It's always nice to rectify a missed opportunity, and especially so on such a cool can!
The USBC-OI example was a Lewandowski can and is the best dumper I've seen. The one in Appleton isn't too far behind, and Chris (longopener) has the next best I've seen. The color looks a bit muted on mine here, but not when I look at the original photo, so I don't know what's up with that.

Re: Dingle Bay
Thank you Marc for always having the story behind the great cans !! I remember dave Lang’s story in rustlings 20plus yrs ago about needing cutting shears to break through the roots in that dump of Dingle Bays
