What makes this can special when the aluminum version is a $2 can? Just because it's steel?
The steel version is in the test can section of the pull tab book at a whopping price of $35.00

It looks like it sold for "best offer accepted". I would be surprised if it approached $5000, it's a grade 2, but if it did there is something to be said for being patient selling these rare cans, he has been listing that can for a while along with a Meier Ale LP.
Not sure if you all saw the Badger that just sold for $3575....seemed high to me.....maybe if it were perfectly clean, but it wasn't perfect. Anyway, posted it here:

Could use a little help. bassin990 just sold a bunch of really cool cans on ebay that I think we should document......with more coming! I posted a few of these, but a bunch more came through tonight. If you are a specialist in any of these cans and can speak to it, please post them to the reference board. Here's the cans:

REMEMBER THIS BASSIN EBAY ID IS ONE OF AT LEAST THREE PEOPLE SELLING THE SAME COLLECTION.
IM THINKING THE MORE POPULAR CANS ARE GETTING SHILL BIDS FROM THE OTHERS ON THE TEAM
Hard to say but it seems a little suspicious, there was a steady rise in the price throughout the auction which is a red flag for me, in my auctions there is usually some early bidding and then a lull until the last day as snipers stay on the sideline hoping to keep the price down. But I never sold a can at this price level either.
Do you know whose collection this is that is being sold? Seems pretty large and diverse based on the cans just this seller has been offering.

I believe an ongrade example sold for $17,000 a couple years ago. It's almost certainly as you describe, but it's very scarce and it looks mighty fine in silver. I thought about going after it.

I don't believe the can is known to exist above grade 1, and demand is through the roof. Eight different bidders were at $2800 or higher. The older 4-panel can does exist in A1+ condition, and one of those has sold twice at four times this price in recent years. Indoor Manhattan cans are not for the faint of heart . . .
Hey Marc,
That Badger does exist in A1+ condition. Here is a pic I took of mine (left) and McCoy's (right) in Fort Wayne a couple years back.
They are both still in Indiana, but not in our collections anymore.
Steve
Thanks; I'd never heard of a really clean 2-panel Badger before. Bob McCoy's 4-panel was the one I referred to. I assume the ding looks worse in the photo than it really is . . . Bob's been so picky on condition in recent years that I'd expect him to pass on that one if it looks like that in hand.
Considering the rarity that's cheap. how many 1 known beer cans get more then $338. LEON.

It's a MILLER!! That's what is so special about it!! My collection value just went up 10 fold......
I don't know who is buying up all of the black and red Millers but they are paying way too much. Miller didn't do anything in small quantities so grade 1 Millers are going to keep popping up and should go for A LOT less than what ebayers are paying.
I picked up a really nice red Miller for $100 from some dude in Detroit.......

YES, I know that Dude from Detroit. And that was the tougher Variation you stole for $100. And you thought I was Crazy when I told you I frequently see the more common Red Miller get $300+.

You should have ebayed it! I still think it's still only worth $100. I only bought it because the side panel looked great. The front is faded and it was bottom opened with a can opener and relidded...... I'll buy you a Faygo next time I see you. Hey wait, I think you still owe me a beer for the Bosch drinking cup!!
I think it will all come out in a wash eventually.

No relid that I'm aware of or remember seeing. Let me see that can again?

ouch.....with that face.....I guess $100.....maybe.....definitely don't see that going for $300 though. Pricing has never been my strong suit though.
From my "notable ebay" auction page, this "80 year" variation only went for $280 and has a really nice face: viewtopic.php?f=96&t=42462&p=364713&hil ... er#p364713
