Hard to say.....with a super tiny graphic and zero links to the original auction, can't look it up to see if it's a rare variation. WF? Who knows? Can't tell from this.

Yeah, Thats the more common variation. worth maybe $200 tops. I could see any one of the other 2 rarer variations maybe getting $400 tops but $670 for this thing that aint even that clean is insane. About 10+ years ago there was at least one, maybe 2 cases of these found mint & unfilled in original case box with no top lids. These were selling for about $200 each back then & since then I've seen many of them selling on ebay with new top lids applied for about $300. LEON.

The seller of those minty red Miller cups was from Milwaukee, I’ve sold him some signage so I thought I could get one from him at a small discount after he sold about a dozen cups- he wouldn’t even tell me how many he found! Done with that guy- Ziphippie

Maybe the Malt Liquor variation is a $5-6 can. Seems like the Malt Lager variation of any Malt Liquor can is always much tougher? LEON.

A local guy had 100's of cases of full cans including several cases of the malt lagers. He sold a lot of them on ebay but when approached to sell groups, he wouldn't give a bargain (He wanted $8 to $10 per can) (this was 20 years ago) He later passed away + his wife was stuck with thousands of unopened 40 year old (rusty) cans. (By now most of the cans were leaking + at best had lots of tarnish) ... I passed on taking them for free. She also had lots of bottles + older cans. I ended up with several trays that were mostly common buy some were real nice.
The cloud nine's are super-tough to find in pristine condition + hard to keep them in pristine condition outside of climate controlled environment.
The can in the listing is worth $25 .. maybe a little more but I don't keep up with the prices on the 70's cans too much. I see them at local shows all the time for $20. I live 1/2 hr from that brewery. The beer distributor in DuBois has some cool cans displayed but his Cloud-9's have tarnish too.

Originally it was, until she sent him a 2nd can free of charge. LEON.
Just what I was thinking.

Did one Clipper sell for $199,000 dollars and then a second can was free if you bought the first one??
Plus $3.0o shipping?
And somebody got a steel for $5 grand. How many cans did they get 1 or 5??

I'll try to clearify from Memmory. First one sold for $19,299. Then soon after seller sent young son/nephew whoever back up into the attic to look for more & he found 11 more from the 12 pack or close to it roughly. the 2 high bidders & everybody else complained it would have never got bid up that high if they knew there was a total of 12 instead of one, approximately give or take a few, exact # I can't remember. Seller felt bad for the high bidder paying so much & was aware the price would have fallen with 11 more flooding the market, so she sent him a 2nd one free. which means he really got 2 mint Clippers for the $19,299.00. I think Gene Dicico bought the rest & was selling for approximately $8k-$10k. Dented straightened cans getting $5k-$7.k. LEON.

The reason it sold so high was it was the best example known at the time...I cant remember what Brewery It was brewed at but was super rare and just a hand full known..May be the California collectors can chime in

At the time(ebay auction) she only found one can and when It sold for 19k she went looking for more. I thought she found 5 or 6 more but I could be wrong...Giving that she gave the buyer a free can after the auction was pretty cool..

That's all I know... :smt017

I remember too, being told that the variation that sold for big bucks is an easier variation. One of the milestones in beer can history. Opened eyes for $$$ in a lot of the non collecting public.
