Interesting story from an old timer regarding PBR cans

Post by Diamond State Boy »

I work in a Country Club/Retirement community...one of the members was a salesman for a beer distribution co.
I've been talking to him and showing him pictures of my cans. He told me a story about competitors who used to use snap top PBR can edges to pop the tops of other PBR snap tops in the coolers at different stores/markets..causing them to be bad/skunked.His name is Miller and over his 40yrs he never sold Miller beer. He doesn't have any cans but has a huge Bud Memorabilia collection..(Clydesdale clocks..ect) I talk to him every chance I get.

PBR snap caps are OI cans......and even show pictures on the side of how to use another can to pop the top.

When I lived in Sioux City,IA. back in the early 1990's I met an old timer and asked him why Western Brew (tuff 1950's flat) from our local Brewery were so hard to find in both cans and bottles.

His answer was it was that this beer was SWILL. He compared It TO Old Milwaukee at the time. You only bought Western Brew when your wallet was low but come pay day PABST WAS THE BEST BEER IN TOWN.

I really miss that old timer named Frank...Always good stories. :smt023
