Absolutely this.

It's all about content.

The problem I see is "this is the board" of the BCCA, not Facebook, bing, instagram, periscope and all the other platforms that may be out there. If you are not a Rusty Bunch member, but a BCCA member this is your platform. The BCCA forum = The Rusty Bunch!!!! The BCCA had a forum and no-one was using it. In an effort to have a place were discussion could take place on everything beer can related we welcomed the entire club to use our site. The BCCA shut down their rarely used forum and linked to us. Now I see us following down the same path the BCCA forum went.....just let our members and others use Facebook and other sites without even a fight. I might even add with encouragement. We need to promote the BCCA forum, our site, as the one and only everything beer can site, period.

Does anyone really think it's a good idea to have to jump between, Chapter websites, show websites, back to Facebook over to instagram and to the Rustybunch for discussion. It can all be done right here.

If a non-Rustybunch member wants to start a Facebook page to promote a show, we can't stop them, but we don't have to encourage them by providing content on their site/page.

Bring everything here, pictures, comments, everything and watch the other pages wither. Without the content on those sites everyone comes here. If not we risk becoming the old BCCA forum that no one uses.

I have to disagree. If you are not on FB you are missing out on a lot. And if you think this website is the center of the universe, you are wrong there too. When I post some cool old beer can ads, or an old photo with beer cans in it - very little interest in them here and they fall off the first page soon. Don't know why, maybe people here are more concerned with what's in the beer can rather the can itself anymore? The chapter has changed. The BCCA Facebook page is very active - there are 2900+ members there. There is nothing wrong in looking at other sites. Especially other BCCA Chapter FB pages - lots of cool stuff out there. Its all apples, oranges, pears and peaches to me - its ALL good!

You can set up a FB account with ALL fake info if you so choose. The only actual info they will have on you is your IP address and the fact that this John Smith likes beer cans.

I can't for the life of me understand why any of this is an issue. I think it's time we all crack open a beer and enjoy looking at some cool breweriana

If you only have time for one, I'd choose the RB, If you have time for both, even better !!! Better yet is if you have time for the other 20 beer related FB pages, really a ton of info out there.

You guys not on Facebook are missing out. I've got many leads and bought a few collections via FB. These tabs and zips came from a FB lead.

Best one of the bunch.

Agree with Oldmoney. Have bought so many signs in the last few years off the Facebook pages that would have never found here. This site has the best info for cans anywhere on the net but for signs not so much. Tried to get some sign chatter years ago but was mostly ignored. On Facebook there are a ton of pages for signs and it is quick and simple.

The old BCCA did not evolve with the times. They tried to hold fast to the "old" way of doing things. THAT is why the BCCA has been steadily declining. You are proposing doing the same thing.......

The BCCA tried a forum 8 years after we launched, using the same software we left when upgrading to phpBB2 (now 3), kinda hard to crack into something that is already going goog.

Not proposing anything like that. I'm only saying that Rusty Bunch members who are posting info on Facebook and not posting the same info on the RB site, may find that one day there is not a RB to post on.

With all the breweriana pages on Facebook and the corresponding activity, I would estimate I'm seeing at a minimum of 25-30 threads per day on Facebook.
