Sweetwater Vs. S. Adams Super bowl bet cans

#1

Post by Atlantic Guy »

Sweetwater Brewing (GA) and Sam Adams Brewery (MA) made a bet on the Super Bowl. The loser would have to change the name of one of their main beers to either Falcons or Patriots, wear the winning team’s shirts, and can the beer.

We all know who won. So the Sweetwater tap room served “Patriot Pale Ale” on tap (formerly 420 Pale Ale) and wore New England shirts this week. Here is a link to the local TV news story.

Today Sweetwater released “Patriot Pale Ale” in cans, but only at their brewery. There was a grand total of 100 cans produced for sale and they were limited to 2 per person. They sold out immediately. Unfortunately, I was unable to get any extra ones to trade or sell. I do expect a few to show up on ebay soon from the more enterprising buyers.

And the deflated part too as a reference to the balls.
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

As I understand it, in a part of the bet, Sweetwater had to send some of the canned Patriot Extra Pale Ale cans to Sam Adams in Boston. So a case or two may be spread out among Sam Adams employees. So if you are looking for one and you have any connections at Sam Adams you might get one that way.

They are long gone here in the Atlanta area with multiple people still looking for them.
